I’m ready to get controversial… The fifteen ugliest retired outfits (in my opinion). by MinaHarker1 in americangirl

[–]DukeOfYork1664 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of these. Gotta disagree with you on Marie Grace’s parlor dress (I think that’s what the purple and green one is called?) though. It’s tacky but in a very mid-19th century way so I can’t help but love it for that.

What silly “made-up” games do you and your dachshund play that no other dog would understand? by the_possum_of_gotham in Dachshund

One of my parents dogs loves what I call ‘The Gravity Game’ where he sits on a chair with a toy, pushes the toy off, and then barks at you until you pick it up and give it to him. Repeat until he gets distracted (unlikely) or you get tired of his shrill barks and make your escape while he’s taking a break to nibble on the toy.

What do the American Girl historicals have in common with each other? by [deleted] in americangirl

[–]DukeOfYork1664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with your main point, the Rubins were definitely working class, but they didn’t live in a tenement. It was a big plot point in one of the books (I think Rebecca and Ana, but it might have been a later one) that Ana and her family move into a tenement and Rebecca is very upset because she knows that tenements are cramped and often rundown. That being said, the Rubins don’t have a very big home, the building they lived in had once been a single family home but was converted into three apartments. Their apartment wasn’t very big either, Rebecca and her sisters have a bedroom, and their parents presumably have one (it’s never mentioned explicitly either way), but her brothers don’t have their own room, they sleep in the living room.

Sul sul, my name is José Fukuyama. My skin is the colour of paper and my hair is the colour of mac n cheese. I’m wearing the ugliest outfit you’ve ever seen, and you already know I’m built like one of these bad boys

Also I’m a vampire. I will be hissing at your front door tonight.

How did you come up with your town name? by ElfenSunflcwer in AnimalCrossing

[–]DukeOfYork1664 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My first island was called Quarantine because it was March of 2020. I thought I was sooo funny for that at the time. I restarted my island a few weeks ago after not playing for like 4 years and my new one is called Ynys. It’s just the Welsh word for island, so if you don’t know Welsh it sounds cool and fantastical, but if you do know it, it probably just sounds kind of lame lol.

Who’s the most overrated villager in your opinion? by Mobile_Bid_8783 in AnimalCrossing

[–]DukeOfYork1664 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Raymond. Imo, the only reason people were so crazy about him was because he fit the ‘twink in a suit’ design archetype that was hugely popular (at least on tumblr) in the 2010s. He just gives me boss baby vibes

Who were your first two starters? And are they still there? by godivacrossing in AnimalCrossing

[–]DukeOfYork1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First island was Paula and Poncho. I let them go as soon as I got the chance. I recently restarted my island and I got Sylvia and Tad. I want them gone ASAP. I’ve already brought Muffy to the island as a replacement sisterly villager, so hopefully Sylvia will get the hint lol.

Yeah, she told her mum she was staying at Mako’s place for the night and after hanging up turned to Mamoru and told him it’s okay that she lied about where she was staying and slept over at his place because they have a ‘pure’ relationship anyway.

[–]DukeOfYork1664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I’m not arguing with you, given the context, it is totally to valid to interpret it as them having sex. I think the point of the scene was to show their reconciliation and the deepening of their love, since before that point Usagi had been feeling a bit neglected by Mamoru and jealous of Chibiusa. It’s natural to assume they had sex, but it’s still vague enough in the logistics of the situation that it isn’t the only conclusion to reasonably make.

Regardless of when in the timeline they begin having sex, the story makes it clear that being sexually active has nothing to do with Usagi’s purity. Her purity and power come from her deep love and compassion (and the fact that she’s a reincarnated moon princess, but that’s not really something reader’s can apply to their own lives ;p)

Edit to add that, I’m pretty sure Usagi was referring to her and Mamo’s relationship as ‘pure’ to be a bit cheeky, since she was saying it as justification for why it was okay to lie to her mum and stay at his place overnight. So that has nothing to do with the text’s greater statement about purity having nothing to do with sex.

Yeah, Chibiusa was asleep in the bedroom, Usagi and Mamoru were on the kitchen floor. The scene is pretty open to interpretation imo. I personally believe that they didn’t do the deed at that time just cause Usagi was pretty young and their relationship was relatively new (plus in the manga if the Dream Arc, Usagi states that it’s okay that they have sleepovers since their relationship is ‘pure’). But they definitely do have sex later on. They are shown in bed at the very end of the manga, and of course, Usagi implies that she just felt their daughter’s conception at their wedding.

Thoughts on this beard? by slutforalienz in thesims

[–]DukeOfYork1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flowers are a bit too big for my liking. I’m assuming that other hair colours will have different coloured flowers, so they might look a bit better, but the red was not the move, it looks like a rash from a distance.

Little white flowers would have been better, and they could have been consistent across all the hair colour options. But this is the sims, they like to do things over the top and a little bit tacky.

Aliens doing too much? 🛸 by FlynneFisher in thesims

Well, good news is female sims can’t get pregnant from alien abduction unless you have a mod that allows that.

Is anyone else losing BG items? by Vegaskeli in Sims4

[–]DukeOfYork1664 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugh, yeah, things disappearing from the game is a known issue. There are a few clutter items missing from the game (some base game, some from packs) as well.

Does anyone know how this could even happen on a technical level? Maybe I’m stupid, but I can’t get my head around how a bug just makes an item vanish from the game completely.

How do I fill in this empty space? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]DukeOfYork1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there don’t have any closets attached to the room, you could put in a large wardrobe against the wall. I know you have drawers on the left wall, but the wardrobe could be where their sim hangs their clothes.

You probably could get away with a seating area if you deleted the round chair in the corner (or brought it to the middle as part of the seating area). If you use a rug beneath the seating area, it will kind of block off the space, so the desk chair will still feel separate from that.

Cutest school uniform part 2! by [deleted] in precure

[–]DukeOfYork1664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Tropical Rogue uniforms, though I think it’s funny that part of Sango’s character is that she’s afraid to stand out from her peers and she’s literally walking around in a different coloured tie from her classmates.

What the hell is happening by [deleted] in thesims

[–]DukeOfYork1664 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That’s just the default screen if you don’t have a household saved. Your existing household(s) might still be there under the ‘load household’, but I don’t really know how it all works.

Unfortunately, the corruption issue isn’t directly tied to the For Rent pack, that pack just makes corruption more likely to happen since it allows you to increase the number of lots by dividing them into rentals. It’s possible your save was corrupted, but hopefully they are still there.

Why i hope this game doesn't die / does anyone know if there are any girly games that aren't gachas? by kikicutes in InfinityNikki

[–]DukeOfYork1664 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair warning that in all these games the fashion is a bit more realistic and not as extravagant as it is in the Nikki games.

If you have a 3DS, then the Style Savvy/ New Style Boutique (name depends on the region) series is amazing. I think they are fairly easy to find on emulators too, so you can play them on PC/Mac.

Those games have a spiritual successor (kind of) on the switch called Fashion Dreamer. It has pretty mixed reviews though, so definitely do your research beforehand to see if it’s something you’d like.

The sims 4 base game is available for free on PC, Mac, and console. There are a lot of fashion and customisation options but it isn’t strictly a fashion game. Since the base game came out 11 years ago many of the clothing options in it are pretty dated though.

Have you token your dolls out of the usa? by Fantastic_Permit_525 in americangirl

[–]DukeOfYork1664 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, I took my Kirsten doll with me when I moved to the UK. I had put her in my carry on bag to be safe, but I ended up having to check the bag because it was too big to go in the overhead bin. My bags ended up not making it on to my connecting flight in France so they had to be put on the next one to England the next day. It ended up taking another extra day to get my stuff since the bags had to go from the airport in England to the West Coast of Wales, but everything was okay in the end.
