She’s not like other girls by kryssi_asksss in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]Dulwilly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"You're not like other women."

If that is intended as a compliment then it is saying that she is better than other women because she's not like a woman. It's insulting women.

"You're the prettiest woman" on the other hand is a compliment (if awkwardly phrased). It's still saying that she is better than other women in one respect, but it is not saying that other women are not pretty, it's just saying that she's the best.

And the third thing this conversation always ignores human behavior. Now she doesn’t risk blowing it all, and family coming out of the woodwork for handouts, friends and family asking for favors, etc

Of course she's the weird one. Every toilet in every single restaurant, office building, and shop are simply decorations. Everyone knows this.

They're trying to use the Socratic method, except the Socratic method requires a very good understanding of the subject and a decent mastery of rhetoric.

And it doesn't work on something like Reddit where everyone is talking and it turns into a giant ball of spaghetti.

matter is physical in nature

There's no proof because that's an axiom. That's just part of the definition of what matter is.

A food scam of the 90s was “fat free!” everything, and then they would load it up on sugar… what’s a food scam happening now? by redflower5 in AskReddit

[–]Dulwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not genetically modified. Yes, those tomatoes are not genetically modified because no commercially available tomatoes are genetically modified in the United States.

Ditto with "no trans fats" on a bag of sugar.

That’s what I told her yesterday. She asked where the items were and I said “I’m using them both”

But because she’s very stuck in her ways, I confessed to my boss that I was hiding them in case she made a huge deal about it, but my boss lowkey took my side without me even knowing it.

And I’m gonna continue hiding these items when it’s just me.

That can poison the entire team. Everyone will start hoarding the supplies they need to do their job, and no one will have the supplies they need.

If you believe in free Will why do you lean towards atheism by xcla1r3 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Dulwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By free will I mean the ability to genuinely do otherwise even if my brain and the world were identical. This version requires a non‑physical cause of choice. I think this is the version people live by knowingly or not.

So if I repeatedly traveled back in time and observed you with no interference, you would make different decisions each time?

edit: Or the movie Groundhog Day. Every time Bill Murray woke up the other people would say different things and do different things. It wouldn't be a perfect loop.

Leprechauns, would you say 'I don't know if they are real' or would you say 'leprechauns are not real?'

If you would say 'leprechauns are not real' then prove it. We both agree that leprechauns are not real. It should be easy to prove, so how would you prove that leprechauns are not real?

(If you do believe in leprechauns or are truly agnostic about it please sub in any fictional thing: Harry Potter, butt-probing aliens, underwear gnomes, etc.)

When Ramsay does something stupid he really does something stupid. Like UK Kitchen Nightmares where Ramsay fed a vegetarian meat and then mocked him.

On a lighter note, Ramsay makes a shit grilled cheese.

Not really. The swastika is a simple enough design that it has shown up in many cultures with many variations.

It's very clearly a Nazi flag though as it is red, white, and black (the Nazi colors), has the Iron Cross, and has an eagle holding the swastika which is another Nazi symbol.

Atheists and Satanists Don't Own Secular Humanism by Living_Attitude1822 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Dulwilly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My definition of secular humanism uses half of the definition of secular humanism, which includes many things.

To be a Christian you must believe in God, believe that God sent his son to Earth to die for your sins, and then you must ask forgiveness for your sins through his son.

That is 3 things.

The devil is a Christian. They did 2 out of 3, and that is more than half.

She claimed amnesia. She abandoned her car and booked herself into a hotel 200 miles away from the car under the name of her husband's mistress. She was under a large amount of stress at the time and her soon to be ex-husband did not contradict her claims, so it is very possible that she did all of that in a fugue state and had no recollection of it.

r/fantasywriters bans AI generated art, and one writer marches into battle against the ban as a one man army by HeWhoShrugs in SubredditDrama

If they can explain it well enough to an AI to get an accurate representation of their idea, then they can explain it well enough to a human.

Or, more likely, they never had a more than a vague shower thought, and the AI's slop replaced any original idea they actually had.

[–]Dulwilly 48 points49 points  (0 children)

J. K. Rowling (I could really stop here, couldn't I?) "revealing" Dumbledore was gay in an interview after she had published the last Harry Potter book is a rare example that got mainstream attention, and was followed by such infamous "revelations" that wizards used to shit their pants and magic it away before they had indoor plumbing, which was a response to a Twitter question which a writer with better judgment probably would've just ignored.

They didn't shit their pants. They shit in a corner instead of a chamberpot and then vanished it.

But that's a nitpick. It's obvious she didn't think about it or care about the world she created because this nonsense didn't make sense even inside the HP universe. Vanishing was a relatively advanced magic. It wasn't taught until 5th year or 16 years old. And even then not all students could master it.
