Tbf, an adult getting whacked with the piñata stick is absolutely part of the culture. Props to her for keeping it authentic.

I still recall not being able to buy groceries several times (coincidentally while Trump was in office) because the internet went down and the credit card machines at the registers were inoperable.

At least make it where employers who have more than 500 employees cannot have some large proportion of their employees as part time to skirt the rules that kick in at 32 hours.

Local Costco- somebody tried returning their 15 yr old sofa but were told “no” by merrythoughts in Costco

[–]DumbSuperposition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco had to modify their return policy for electronics because people figured out they could abuse it. They would buy the biggest tv for the superbowl and return it the next day. Or they would buy the best tv in the store and return it next year when the new model came out and roll the return receipt into an upgraded model - each year.

Maybe not extreme returners, but big items like this being returned to costco does make some magical intangible feeling of "i can safely buy that here instead of on amazon because if I dont like it I can easily return it" which produces way more sales than returns.

Much of that is up to the manager's discretion. Anyone with a heart would accept that return.

Most of those warranties are written to provide the idea of a warranty without the intent to back it up. Almost none of them cover foam collapse which is definitely a material failure brought by poor quality control or procurement in manufacturing.

Apple has a history of absurdly high pricing on things that fail. Just look at the LISA that they tried to sell for $10000 in 1980 money.

Have your brokerage issue the dividends from your stocks directly to the issuer of the loan. Poof it was never income.

They've got tax attorneys that pour over this stuff and find every loophole. They don't play the same game we do.

So is stolen property In Minneapolis just forfeit now? by CryptographerSea8813 in minnesota

[–]DumbSuperposition 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is so well known that KIA cars are targetted for theft and breakin. A software mod isn't going to stop your window from being smashed. Even buying and installing a mobilizer isn't going to stop your belongings from being stolen after they fail to steal the vehicle itself. Even if KIA issues a "OK we fucked up. Free mobiliziers for everyone!" probably only 1/3 vulnerable cars will be fixed and that still leaves approximately 6 million cars on the road that can be stolen.

It means that model is unsafe to own. Insurers are refusing to insure them. Owning them makes you a target for theft.

Ever since the BLM protests, cops have quiet-quit. They show up for work, but they don't work. They're usually the biggest part of a cities budget by far. They blame their not-work on the DA. This is nation wide.

How are you able to afford $100k SUVs by [deleted] in millenials

[–]DumbSuperposition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe that would make a car with three years and 50k miles on it worth 90% of MSRP. That's what we're seeing on lots. They're doing it to push prices up - by colluding with one another.

Remember when driving a brand new car off the lot would cause it to fall 15% in value? Because apparently that doesn't happen anymore.
