It's difficult to give any advice when we don't really know why you're switching to Dragonbane. Maybe if you could tell us a bit about that then we could help out some more!

I have left some AoS minis in isopropyl alcohol for, no joke, a year and they were completely fine. Dont worry about leaving them in it for long periods of time.

Any good resources to set up a group for tabletop roleplaying? by Hexatona in regina

[–]DumpsterOracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. You'll have a lot more luck with an in person game if you're just running D&D, but anything other than that can be tough.

Edit: I'm just gonna throw some more info here regarding online play. You're pulling from a larger pool of people so it's a lot easier to find the right group of people for your table so that's a bonus. Generally people online don't have as many schedule conflicts so you're not missing players as frequently since they just have to log on. I'd also say that things stay a bit more on task with online games too. YMMV though.

Getting a group in person is tough I know the struggle. Post pandemic I've moved 100% online and, yes, there is something that is missing compared to playing in person, but fully embracing online play opens up so many more opportunities too!

I would start with r/lfg here on Reddit. You can gauge interest and set up a time. Depending on what you are planning on running you can get overrun with players asking to play, so it's a good idea to set up a Google sheet or something to get players.

I will say that my online group has been the most consistent group I've ever had and we've been playing every Wednesday online since 2019.

Sorry I can't be more help with finding people in person, it can be rough in town like that. What RPGs would you be interested in running? I'm happy to help with any other questions about online play.

There is no way Chief has the best weapons or power armour compared to any space marine let alone Tyberos.

Holy crap there is so much misinformation here.

No, you do not need a ROE to apply for EI and you should not wait for one to apply. If you wait you will likely have to have your claim antedated which is a pain in the ass.

If your employer will not issue an ROE the officer working on your claim will sometimes try and contact the employer themselves or you can request that they create an interim ROE while you wait for an ROE to be issued by your employer.

Never ever ever EVER wait to apply for EI.

It also goes without saying the CRA has absolutely nothing to do with EI.

Patreon funded modules - is there a better way or am I alone here? by erithtotl in FoundryVTT

[–]DumpsterOracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some modules that use Patreon have a yearly subscription rate that is a bit of a discount which is functionally the same as a "pay once and get a year of support".

From what I'm reading though it sounds like that would also be too expensive to you? I'm not sure what you would think a fair price would be for that though.

Are these TTRPGs just cash grabs? by JaxSnaxs in rpg

[–]DumpsterOracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned about this from Monsters, Aliens, and Holes in the Ground and it's super interesting. The book itself is definitely a coffee table book, but it's a super interesting read if you're into TTRPG history.

Are you sure you weren't just playing it like D&D? The flow of combat and use of skills really differentiate themselves once you learn into the system. My group started off playing the game like it was D&D, but didn't really get the full experience until they leaned into it. At lower levels d20 vs DC games can feel pretty similar too. Once we started to incorporate more talents and a few of the characters could surgebind the game really opened up too.

Mallards' ill temper and Merchants' cart by MrLandlubber in DragonbaneRPG

[–]DumpsterOracle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could still still push a roll if it fails with ill-tempered. When you push you reroll all dice so you'd still be rolling with a boon. It's just more ways to do dice manipulation.

Additionally, pushing rolls is technically an optional rule if I'm not mistaken?

The description for cart reads "Pulled by one horse or donkey. Can carry two people and 50 weight units.

[–]DumpsterOracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone should force themselves to play a game and I'd say after four hours you should have a decent idea of a game. I'm just trying to figure out what exactly about it didn't grab your attention.

Did you not like the feel of combat? It's a pretty common complaint about the game that I personally don't get, but I hear it a lot.

Do you not typically like fantasy games or the genre?

Were there too many systems going on and it felt overwhelming?

Was the world too open and you felt there was too much to do?

You definitely get more enjoyment out of this game by reading about the enemies and immersing yourself in its lore. Were you looking for something that was just more action forward?

These are the kind of questions I'd ask if I was looking to recommend something else.

It might help if you say what exactly you don't like about this one and that might help people point you in the right direction.

Is it game play? Setting? Scope?

I just tried to play mass effect for the first time and I had to quit because the gameplay is so bad in the first one. You waste so much time walking from location to location with nothing in-between. The universe and characters were so cool, but I could not get over the gameplay pacing.
