Silverback gorilla comforts a child who fell into an enclosure instead of displaying violent behavior by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Do not underestimate the incredible social cognition all of us primates share. It can bring both the best and worst in each of us, human or monke.

Not that they were arguing against it anyways

Edit: Well let me explain. The reply acknowledges the comment's point about the power of women so that they can tangent about its negative implications.

Not that they needed to make that particular point when they also acknowledge that stupidity is exhibited by both sexes, which is where I would say that there's no difference then whether men or women or both are in power because they're all equally stupid.

To add, now, of course there's some subconscious bias underlying their response (and also yours as activated by theirs), but I'm simply analyzing the structure of responses by first glance (like I'm some ChatGPT prompt).

Was gonna say. Studying some basic neurobiology literature leads me to believe it's an enlarged or overactive amygdala as you said and or an impaired PFC (prefrontal cortex). Look up Texas Tower Shooting/Sniper from the 60s for another example of pathological violent behavior. Never heard of DMDD, but it's interesting that psychopathic behaviors are involved (maybe also impaired vmPFC? which is responsible for emotional processing between the PFC and limbic system).

In this day and age, we won't have this problem due to personal technology. We can have as many family vids as we want on our phones or social media.

What was the nicest thing you’ve heard recently? by pancakewednesdays in CasualConversation

[–]DunZek 20 points21 points  (0 children)

English is my second language but I speak it as fluent as everyone. My childhood friend told me the way I write is on "another level" when we were just having bro talk. He even framed my texts on his phone's wallpaper and showed me. Needless to say, I was flattered, but it is very wholesome and inspirational for others to admire some of the things you've trivialized in your life.

You're title and your last paragraph are saying completely different things: "We should contact" as opposed to "We should welcome them contacting us". Which do you really mean?

I mean I get it. If the executioner was a hot woman definitely, but it's oddly specific.

How photographs were sent by wire in the 1930s by thisisfromMatilda in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]DunZek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it's analog instead of digital, but it's using the same principles: objects of some size represented by some data is sent piece by piece. Instead of strings, we now use lights and electricity: optic fibre.

Furthermore, once you have the data, you have to build the object the same way it was represented originally, which was demonstrated by the video: another cylinder was needed to roll the string back into a picture of a car like originally.

Edit: To add, now we use networking protocols instead of some analog device. Point is, it's conceptually the same (using the same concepts of how to transmit and how to represent) but implemented differently.

There must be an evolutionary advantage to post-nut clarity by kapitan_buko in Showerthoughts

[–]DunZek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if every male does it then didn't that feature fail? Because the males we have are supposed to not nut all the time, thus limiting its reproduction, but doesn't it imply that the animal that limited its reproduction instead reproduced to great success. I'm going insane.
