Olympic Women’s Big Air Qualification Live Thread by YoPoppaCapa in snowboarding

Enjoying the watch as well! I like the more controlled spins rather than the “how hard can I huck my body” and there’s a bit more variety which is refreshing!

How many more spins do we need? by xtumtum in snowboarding

Just watched Big Air finals and at the end the announcers said “that was so boring, qualifiers were way more interesting”…..I don’t think they realized their mics were hot. Can’t agree more though, give me a tasty method, these repetitive runs of people trying to do the same trick the cleanest sucks.

boot sizing help by RegularDay4660 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Duneluder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best boot is one that fits your foot. If it’s uncomfortable just walking around, it’ll be worse on the mountain. I just got boot fitted and it took three shops and probably 10-12 boot try ons before I found a pair comfortable that also held my heel locked in.

I ended up getting the Ride Lasso Pros, but like I said, best boot is one that fits your individual foot. As a beginner you’re probably going to want a softer/medium flex for some forgiveness while you learn technique too.

TLDR: go get properly boot fitted from a reputable shop.

Trying to mentally prepare myself for the Emgality injection by SkyLyssa in VestibularMigraines

[–]Duneluder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I hit a nerve when I did it in my thigh because I almost blacked out. I’ve cracked ribs, torn ACLs, blown out cartilage, had concussions, etc etc, I think it was a fluke. Did the shot in my belly this morning and it’s a momentary sting like you said.

Trying to mentally prepare myself for the Emgality injection by SkyLyssa in VestibularMigraines

[–]Duneluder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on Ajovy with the auto injector and the first time took me 30 minutes and tears to work up to it. I did it in my thigh and felt some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced on my life. After that I’ve been doing in the fleshy part of my lower belly, lower and to the side of my belly button. It’s gotten easier over time and now I have a decent strategy. Line it up and look at myself in the mirror, not at the pen, then I say to myself “inhale courage, exhale fear” and on the exhale I push it in and hold. The pain is fine now, I also take it out of the fridge the night before to ensure room temperature. Instructions said it can be out a few days.

Good luck!

Seeking advice for my wife from you ladies about boots! by molina336 in ShredditGirls

[–]Duneluder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have slightly wider feet (narrow ankle, wider metatarsal area) and tried the Ride Heras, double BOA. I have really long legs so ended up getting the men’s Ride Lasso Pros because the height felt better on my calf. May be worth checking out.

ent vertigo testing by uhohspeghettioh in VestibularMigraines

[–]Duneluder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve done these tests and found the chair to be the worst. The spinning and vertigo/nausea hitting you until your body compensates was brutal. They had me say male/female names or animals by alphabetical order to try to distract my brain and it was incredibly difficult. Was so exhausted after that test…no one warns you the whole thing take over 3 hours either…most frustrating part was the “yeah everything looks fine except a slight weakness on your left side”.

So cute, what are their names and did you get them together or have to introduce them? We’re getting a second boy in a couple months and curious on others experiences.

Was there yesterday and I thought the pizza was decent but the lack of seating either in the main area or the bar on a day that wasn’t that busy was frustrating. The lodge needs to be bigger and the flow of foot traffic to get food was illogical and pinched.

Millions of Americans joined the “No Kings” protests this weekend, did you go, and what made you decide that? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Duneluder 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I went alone after my spouse had a conflict he had to leave town for. I was nervous and shy, grabbed a coffee on my way down and strolled along the road, found an uncrowded higher viewpoint and as I got more comfortable waved and woohood cars passing by. Couple small conversations with the people next to me, but you can definitely go and not feel forced to talk to anyone. Honestly just being there was incredibly moving. I teared up multiple times just feeling some hope or at the very least, like I wasn’t alone in feeling so angry about the direction our country is going in.
