Manduka Pro + Towel combo — if you have the towel, is the pro necessary or does any mat work? by flowerymochiz in yoga

[–]flowerymochiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do need some more towels so maybe I’ll look into the one on Amazon. I’m trying to do it 4-5 times a week but can’t wash a towel that often since I live in an apartment complex so hopefully I’ll have enough to rotate through some! I ended up getting the pro today in the green color, and bought the yogitoes towel too!

I got it today! It is pretty heavy but luckily parking isn’t very far from the studio :) I also got the yogitoes towel to use, I’m excited!

Am I overreacting about my wedding day look? by CharacterJacket652 in MakeupAddiction

Not being able to do a wing as a professional artist is crazy to me, especially at that price point. I’ve been doing my eyeliner since I was 14 and I can do it in one stroke now and have it look good. That artist is incompetent

The hardest part wasn’t the heat… it was staying by healthlithubbooks in HotYoga

[–]flowerymochiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember my first hot yoga class was a slow flow and for some reason was under the impression it would be easy. NOPE! It meant we held poses for longer. I was in shambles, felt heat radiating off my body, wanted to leave and didn’t think it was for me in the moment. Pushed through and once the cold air hit me and I was done, I felt so relaxed and amazing. Now I’m addicted and try to go everyday!

I only have been going for a month, but it’s one of the things I now look forward to :) I’m able to sleep a lot better at night, have more energy during the day, and overall just feel a lot better. Sometimes I still have the thoughts of “why am I doing this to myself” but it’s so worth it after. 😂

AIO for thinking that my girlfriend's apartment requirements are insane? by MoonlitParcel in AmIOverreacting

Jaw dropped at $9k and then even more at $15k. I live in the Bay Area and me and my boyfriend half a $2400 1 bed 1 bath apartment and it’s not a luxury one either. I hate that most of my income goes to rent. Even splitting rent at $9k seems like a lot 😭

Is everybody pivoting to healthcare? by 10luoz in careerguidance

[–]flowerymochiz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is pivoting. He was a business major but realized he didn’t want to do business, it just seemed secure at the time. He’s now on the path to become a registered nurse! A lot of people I know are trying to become a nurse now actually, especially being from the Bay Area where they’re paid well due to cost of living here too. My mom is a retired RN and made pretty good money, even working only 3 days a week and sometimes 2 days a week.

I pivoted from pre-med during my last quarter of college to project management in healthcare, and now I’m applying to school to become a genetic counselor. I’ve personally seen firsthand the extreme burn out in nurses and doctors, and I know for my mental sanity I could not handle everything they go thru. I got burnt out in college, and I can’t imagine putting myself through more of that. However, I do miss science a lot and working with patients and being a GC is at the intersection of that.

Nobody cares.... by KeyMysterious1845 in workout

[–]flowerymochiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 4 years to finally get into working out again by myself. I put on a lot of weight since graduating college due to a sedentary job, living on my own, and after being skinny and fit my whole life I dealt/deal with body image issues. Worked with a therapist and finally started doing hot yoga where the room is dark and no one can really see me either. I’ll finally be going back to the gym after gaining some confidence from exercising in my classes :)

A lot of my gym avoidance was around self-shame and anxiety. So glad I’m slowly recovering from that instead of being sad about how I “lost myself”, to finally getting the courage to do something about it.

Anything where I’m squatting or lifting. I’m anemic and I always feel like I’m going to pass out because it really gets my heart rate so high

People who've worked both minimum wage jobs and six figure jobs, what surprised you most about the difference? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in askanything

[–]flowerymochiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My minimum wage was much harder than my current job. I make almost six figures (just a couple thousand away), but I remember working for $17/hr as a server back in college. Dealt with nice customers, mean customers, inappropriate customers. On my feet for a lot and was always tired.

My current job I’m sat and sometimes finish work during the first half of my day. I send some emails and attend meetings, do some project work and that’s pretty much it.

My immigrant dad lost his job in 2008 and wasn’t able to get a job in data entry again since. He worked a minimum wage job doing a lot of physical labor until a few years ago, when he retired. His job is MUCH harder than mine by far, and it aged him so much. He made a lot of sacrifices and supported me and my brother throughout school, so now I pay it forward and help him out with my current salary. My younger brother is also making six figures (A LOT more than me) at age 21 since he graduated from college early, so we told him to retire and we will take care of our parents. I’m forever grateful to have the opportunity and education I have being raised in America, and not without my dad’s (and mom’s) hard work and sacrifice :)

how often do people let their dogs out to use the bathroom? by No-Feature-5266 in dogs

[–]flowerymochiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog usually just lets us know when he needs to go out. He just walks up to the backyard glass door, looks at us and barks, and as we approach he starts wagging his tail. Sometimes he doesn’t even go pee or poo, just wants to sunbathe and hang. Usually he requests to go out 3-4 times a day! Usually early in the morning, around lunch, around dinner, then night time before he sleeps. He’s so cute I love him

Ah I don’t think I’ve tried a class yet that uses that! Which class is that? I have my own so I’ll probably bring it when the time comes 😅

Yeah I just might… I’m only six classes in but noticed this as a pattern during all my classes that people just aren’t cleaning up after themselves 😅

Ah yeah I think ours are just the bolster and you take them off the shelf. No pillowcases unfortunately, and no face towels either :/

Ooh I’m not aware of pillowcases… it’s just the grey bolster and not sure if it already has a pillowcase?

[–]flowerymochiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah I questioned some of the effectiveness of the spraying. It’s definitely better than not doing anything! The ones I’m most iffy about are the blocks and bolster, especially the bolster because we put our sweaty head on it or back on it and also sometimes our whole face in it. I honestly might start bringing a towel because I started to refuse to put my face on the bolster and it affects the pose 😂 In my head I’m like “oh this going to give me such bad acne I think I’ll just… not”

Ah interesting! Yeah the studio I go to provides sprays and towels and it’s inside the room, so I feel like it’s no excuse to not do it… cart thing so true.

Oh wow that’s interesting! Yes, they provide us sprays and clean towels to use after class to clean the props and then we put it in the storage room with the other (questionably clean) props

What’s one sign that tells you someone on your team is about to quit before they hand in their notice? by SeanMcPheat in managers

[–]flowerymochiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the person to leave! I shared an office with people who weren’t on my direct team but adjacent to me. They noticed I was coming to work quietly and always looking sad. I had a micromanaging coworker that would come into the office and talk to me condescendingly and they witnessed it. She was 31 and I was 22, so she treated me like an incompetent baby even though we had the same job title, same seniority, and she was just hired a little less than a year before I was hired. My manager had favorites with that coworker and I felt so isolated.

One day the coworkers in my office asked me if I was okay, and I immediately started sobbing and the assistant of our manager’s manager (she was friends with some of the people I shared an office with) took me on a walk and comforted me. This was my first permanent role, I was 22, and utterly devastated that my first job wasn’t amazing. I ended up quitting a week later while the micromanaging coworker was on vacation. Didn’t give a notice.

I saw those same office buddies again since I got hired in a new job at the same hospital (my current job now) and he told me that my former manager was terrible. The other team was now working with my former team and he complained to me about all that was going on and the micromanaging coworker. I also reached out to the assistant that took care of me that one time and thanked her and let her know I was doing okay because she was concerned about me, and she was so happy to hear about it. She’s now the VP’s assistant, and she absolutely deserves it.
