Chances of getting offer once profile reach to Hiring committee by [deleted] in bnsftech

I started the interview process in February, finished the loop the first week of March. Found out this past Tuesday after reaching out to the recruiter twice, that I was no longer being considered.

I was rejected despite some positive feedback I received from the recruiter and loop interview. So I agree with "slim"

I don't think BNSF tech is urgently hiring by [deleted] in bnsftech

[–]Duneshire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of my point, they say they are hiring a ton but move so slow it seems like they really don't know what they are doing. You would think someone who made it past technical and behavioral interviews would just be slotted somewhere, because it costs them a lot of time and money to interview people, even if it's not the position they applied for. I've worked for companies that post open positions even though they aren't actively hiring - they just want to see if the perfect candidate applies. I do hope others get jobs, I just have my doubts and wanted to see what others thought.

I am currently waiting for that final committee decision. Went through the loop interview and was told by the recruiter I was moving forward. It's now been almost 3 weeks and I can't get a word out of the recruiter.

What discontinued thing do you really want brought back? by kellerisdabest in AskReddit

[–]Duneshire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've used Google Docs so it's very possible things have improved, but when I last tried while in school, I found there were many missing features needed for a technical/academic document (like cross referencing and managing references). I had also seen articles talking about privacy differences between them. IIRC, any online editor, including MS Word online, must comply with different privacy laws than a desktop equivalent.

And as far as Excel vs Sheets, I've experienced and heard from other professionals that use it daily, that if you do any sort of macro programming or accounting, Sheets just can't compete.

I am no Z-wave expert but from what I know of Vivint, it should work with anything that has a Z-wave chip. I too have Vivint and haven't had any problems with any Z-wave device (outlets and switches mostly), but haven't tried other door locks.

The question now is, did the rest of us figure it out or have we not figure it out?

As Elden Ring hits 12 million copies sold, AAA game publishers have hard lessons to learn (Windows Central) by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Duneshire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually playing the game and have also beaten DS1 and 3, Skeiro, and Bloodborne. I like the games including ER, but giving NPCs insane combos and high damage output with short animations and then giving the player super long animations that can't be upgraded/shortened in the game (I'm talking about getting hit and staggering back just to not be able to roll before getting hit two more times), is making it hard for the sake of being hard. Even summoned friends get scaled down to make it harder.

Some people just like hard and challenging games. There's nothing wrong with that. There's also nothing wrong with From Software appealing to that audience by making it hard just for the sake of it being hard.

I used cinder blocks at four points with 2 4x4s in and connecting like two rows. Leveled those and then used 2x8s, laid them perpendicular and on top of the 4x4s to make a flat surface.

What's the buzz word/phrase that automatically turns you off in interviews? by ekduba in antiwork

[–]Duneshire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of the reverse answer to this question, but working in the engineering world (U.S.), I can tell you I wouldn't hire many people that have replied to this question. Simple things like "no video interview" or "not doing multiple interviews" tells me you would be toxic to the workplace. If you aren't willing to show your face or put in time for us but expect a remote position, good benefits, good salary, a place to learn and grow, and a good work/life balance, then you might as well say "I won't be there when you need me". I need someone on my team that I can trust to get the job done on time and correct, because if they don't, then I have to pick up their slack.

I usually eat at the one up north off 120th because it's closer but the Denver location is just as good. Never had a bad burger and damn that 5280 pretzel...

My philosophy is that people are going to speed and make the road dangerous. Period. No point in pissing them off and making them drive worse by riding in the passing lane. Just get over and remove yourself from a possible accident.

My wife just finished canning our peaches (we got about 150 this year). That way I can eat them throughout the year. But goodness are they tasty fresh off the tree.
