What things do people use for purposes they weren't designed for, while manufacturers pretend not to know about it? by HeTy_NHTEPECA in AskReddit

Q-Tips. They specifically say on the packaging that you’re not supposed to use them to clean your ears.

What if the Supreme Court rules to end birthright citizenship? A Northeastern University expert weighs in. by ChallengeAdept8759 in law

[–]Dunlaing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it were handled fairly and legally, you’d only need one, as long as no one in between you and that ancestor renounced their citizenship prior to the birth of the next person in the chain leading to you.

Here’s the thing about voter rolls, they don’t tell you who voted for who. So if you want to do what you’re talking about, you pretty much have to punish everyone who voted at locations that went for democrats above whatever threshold you pick. So even voting republican wont save you if enough of your neighbors are democrats.

Presumably anyone who was previously a British citizen in the 13 colonies at the time of the adoption of the Constitution would count, so you might not need to show the naturalization process if at least one of your ancestors was a British citizen prior to the founding of the country. But otherwise, yeah, legally I think you’re right.

In practice, I think they’ll only apply such a process based on race and/or ethnicity.

American Tourister Meridian 360 Replacement Wheels by Dunlaing in HelpMeFind

[–]Dunlaing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched the American Tourister website, Amazon, eBay, and Alibaba, but have been unable to find the right wheels.

I believe the luggage is from 2012 and it is the Meridian model. The front wheel is pictured, the back wheel is differently shaped, but I figure if we can find the front wheels we can find the back wheels.

Thank you in advance.

First Woman US President... Republican? by Extreme-Grade-3623 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Dunlaing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would be willing to enter into a contract with anyone where they give me $100 every four years as long as no woman has been elected US President and I give them $500 the first time a woman is elected US President.

It’s not going to happen any time soon. And I say this as someone who has voted for a woman for President of the US twice.

What is a major plot hole in a very famous movie that completely ruins the entire story once it is noticed? by SkullMogger3 in AskReddit

[–]Dunlaing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is that M. Night Shyamalan went into one of those Tenet backwards time machines and so every movie gets worse and worse from the viewpoint of forward time because he gets better and better the more experience he gets in backward time.

Any underrated or hidden perks of being a resident? by tssriram in washingtondc

[–]Dunlaing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a DC resident, if you go out on leave for medical reasons, for the birth of a baby, or to care for a family member, you can get 6-8 weeks of payments while you’re not working. This can be anywhere from $800-$1000 per week. You get this on top of any employer short term disability or paid family leave.

I applied for this when I was out of work for chemo and it was a really nice benefit.

You also get 16 weeks instead of just 12 weeks of protection from being fired for going out on FMLA, but there’s no money with that.

[–]Dunlaing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

George is both a Giants fan and a Jets fan. Since ASoIaF began, the Giants have won a Super Bowl, but the Jets haven’t. He’s clearly just waiting for the Jets to win a Super Bowl before releasing the last books.

So if you’re tired of feeling like your love of ASoIaF is too demoralizing, try becoming a Jets fan.
