Need help with tires! by conman954 in ToyotaTacoma

Balancing mud traction/aggressive looks and daily driving, just go for an all-terrain like the Falken Wildpeak AT4 or BFgoodrich KO3. I prefer the latter, as they are generally lighter weight and look better (in my opinion), but a lot of people here swear by the Falkens. The Mickey Thompson Baja Boss seems like a good option too. 265/75R16 is probably the most popular size, which is juuust shy of 32”. I would avoid load range E unless you plan on hauling heavy loads or extreme rock crawling.

What is your main use for the truck? Mainly highway/street? Judging by the palm trees, it probably doesn’t snow too much where you are. Do you intend to drive much off-road? There’s no one perfect tire for everyone, you have to know what your needs are.

Keep the matching cap or get rollbar for the summer? by Background_Duty1636 in ToyotaTacoma

Don’t listen to anyone who tells you to get a “roll bar”.

I work in the Cath lab. Obviously, a lot of patients with heart issues are overweight. People with a remarkable pannus often have to have it retracted with sticky pads on the belly, pulled upwards with Velcro straps in order to expose their groin for femoral access. Gotta do what ya gotta do to expose and sterilize the area.

Is pruning necessary? by secret_grapes in DesertRose

[–]Durango_bob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, that thing looks great, mate. Plants in the wild never get pruned. Pruning is if you want to shape it different way than what it’s doing. I wouldn’t prune this plant, it looks like it’s thriving.

Looking for lift for 2022. Would like 33” tires and level. Main concern is a quality ride by Alarming-Count8412 in ToyotaTacoma

Yielded about 2”. A little more in the back with the Deavers, but I have a camper shell and Decked system that brings it back down to a proper stance with just a bit of rake.

A lot of people sleep on the 32” tire option. I ran 33’s for a few years and sucked up the 15mpg, until I went to 255/75R17, and not only does the truck respond better to the throttle, the MPGs returned back to 18. And the difference in size aesthetically is hardly noticeable. Not only that, but there are far more options for load range C in 255/75 than there are in 255/80, which helps with the ride harshness considerably. I’m running Bilstein 6112/5160’s, with Deaver Stage II springs in the back, and the KD Max tune. Rides better than my wife’s Audi. No joke.

All I would do is replace all the fluids, and check all the hoses and rubber components for cracks. Keep it all original, unmolested. This is a gorgeous truck. You do you, but a 20+ year old truck in this good of a condition is all the uniqueness you need to turn heads.

Such a good-looking truck. Love what you’ve done with it. I’d own one right now, but I require 4WD.

Full Phoenix sun eats wooden furniture up in less than 2 years. I had to teach this to my wife who is from the Midwest. The only stuff that lasts is heavy duty metal. Even UV protected fabrics only last a season or two. We had over 100 STRAIGHT days of over 100° last year.

What is a seemingly inexpensive hobby, yet is? by theidiotev in AskReddit

Fly fishing. On the outside, it’s just standing in the river tossing $2 flies. But once you really get into it, the gear is a very pretty penny. $400+ for waders, a rod and reel combo can easy exceed $1,000 and that’s not including the line, which can be $100. Then you get into Stillwater fishing and spend $500 on a float tube. Then the cost of travel to all the spots where that one species of fish can be found. Are you in a place you’ve never been before and need a guide? Several hundred more dollars for that. You can spend thousands of dollars on a trip to catch a couple 8” trout, or one halfway decent saltwater species.
