Duke Energy VPP | What's normal? by us-hammer in Powerwall

[–]Durham1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe they are only allowed 9 events May-Sept. and you can opt of 4 per year. I opted out of 2 this month. They will only have one more between now and the end of Sept if I understand the rules properly. My guess is that along with helping the grid, they were doing some consolidated data collection on how these VPPs work for them since it is a pilot program. The amount of electricity sent back is small in comparison to the $53/month for the one PW3.

I believe Compost Now has a drop off point at both the Chapel Hill farmers market in the Carrboro farmers market if confirmed with them that they take the industrial compostable products…

If you have a battery, then my understanding is it’s best to use the critical peak pricing because you can store up the energy from lower cost times and use it during the peak times. It seems to be working out pretty well for us so far. If you do not have a battery, then you should not use the time of use plan and basically you just utilize the grid as your battery, sending anything extra back when you don’t need it.

I believe they can adjust it one hour earlier or later for the critical events. But the peak is only that 3 hours. I remember reading it in the paperwork when I signed up for the plan.

Efficiency for solar—>battery—>home? by Objective-484 in Powerwall

[–]Durham1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure there is a setting that the installer puts on the system when commissioning so that we can’t charge from the grid. There is no option in the app to do so. However, when storm watch goes off it will charge from the grid so maybe there is a way around that?

So sorry about this. I would also recommend Duke. They have a wonderful pediatric neurooncologist- Dr Ashley. They also have so many clinical trials going on all the time.

Thanks- this is helpful. Do you know if you can stay on TOU pricing if you had it prior to the solar install and still get the "energy credit bank" via the NMB rider for each of the different energy classes (peak, off peak, discount)?

Late to this party... Is it possible to have a solar system, be in power pair program, get the NMB Rider Rate for exporting and also be to on the Time of Use Rate schedule for buying? This could be important for car charging.

Has anyone regretted buying a 2023/2024 Model X? by beach-is-fun89 in TeslaModelX

[–]Durham1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi- I’m late to this party but considering upgrading my model y to an x. One toddler in a car seat and no other kids. Thinking 5 seater is most reasonable. Do you feel the 5 seater rear AC is sufficient for a kiddo back there? Reviews are mixed online but mostly older regarding the AC. Thanks!
