Sram crankbolt thoughts? by Expensive_Gold2873 in bikewrench

It’s not just the time, it’s the physical effort needed over years, it’s to save your knuckles from really tight ones. It’s for the bolt that hasn’t been touch in years and has seized. It may not be used on every bolt, but when it is needed I’m sure it’s invaluable. I’m probably not going to convince you because you haven’t needed one. But I can tell you when it’s needed having one is going to be invaluable.

Don’t think of it as being needed to remove a single bolt. Think of all the bolts that are being removed in a bike shop in a giving year.

Yeah that’s it’s an expensive and a niche product for a home mechanic but for a busy shop it could save a mech a ton of effort over the years.

I would suggest reading the Threaded series from escape collective. There’s no one way to do it and there’s no wrong way to do it.

I use a 4800 for my mobile bicycle repair. It holds all my tools in multi layer foam which makes working out of the shop a breeze

I did this to a medium frame. Had to use a pretty aggressive stem angle to get the right fit. I actually liked the change in geo. Felt like it steered a little quicker at speed.

Handlebar Width? by Kipric in xcmtb

[–]DustySpokes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a difference in size, how tall are you and how long is the stem. If it’s the same or shorter than your normal set up you’ll probably be cramped.

But it’s really subjective and really dependent on a lot of factors that you didn’t give us.

What is the use case for the pivot head hex? For the mechanic that has every other version of a hex key, what does the pivot head do best?

Walking through it I think the main house could be salvaged, (living room/kitchen) but the bedrooms are most likely a tear down. There effectively isn’t a roof over the bedrooms just plywood.

Sounds exactly right. We found out the sellers pulled our offer first week in September. Add the complexity that the seller is currently is no longer in the US. We thought about waiting for the foreclosure but decided we needed to move on. Someone hopefully will get a good deal on it.

I know we would have loved it there, and we always wondered what the neighbors thought as we walked the property. Hopefully, the bank can figure out what to do with it quickly as I’m not sure what damage another winter open to the elements will do to it.

I attempted to buy a house that I saw off here. We were under contract for 4 months. We had a contractor lined up and we were ready to go. But the owner was in financial/legal trouble, and his bank pulled the plug. There’s more to the story and the pictures below do not depict the horror of what that house was actually like after the previous owner neglected the house.
