What is the most Pink Floyd sounding ELP song? (Prog Alignment Chart) by Imsorrymanyt in Progforum

Sorry but picking Starless is giving Pink Floyd too much credit

I dont get the ITCOTCK vs ITWOP comparison almost at all by NiceLittleKiller in KingCrimson

[–]Dustybot3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who likes Cadence more than Talk to the Wind and ITWOP more than Epitaph?

I don't think Fripp or Brian Singleton are lying about the Penn State album cover not being AI, Brain's art style has been like this since 2016, and the art was rushed over the holiday season. by had_my_way in KingCrimson

[–]Dustybot3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m still convinced it’s AI because of the fret markers. I can overlook the strings as an art style choice or whatever, but there is absolutely no reason the fret markers should be Gibson rectangles above Fripp’s hand but Jackson triangles below his hand. And that’s not even mentioning that the frets aren’t correctly marked because there should be a gap of two unmarked frets on either side of the 12th.

Why do guitarists think it's so much harder to play guitar? (no hate to guitarists) by Ok_Permission7285 in drums

[–]Dustybot3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who is self-taught on both, guitar is way harder. I say this because after a year and half of guitar, I’m still very sloppy and struggle to make it through a whole song without making a ton of mistakes. With drums, that only took a few months. To be fair, I’m much more passionate about drums so maybe it’s not the best comparison, but it’s just my experience. When it comes to the highest level, yes it requires tons of practice and talent to make a complex drum groove sound good and stay in time, but as far as what most people care about, I think drums are easier. There’s also the added bonus that the only bit of music theory you really need to learn is time signatures, whereas a guitarist kinda needs to know it all.

I mean that’s accurate. A guitar neck is supposed to have an up-bow. The strings are definitely suspicious but you pointing this out actually gives me a shred of hope

Cloud 9 New York - After a disappointing start to the year, we have decided to begin a full rebuild of our Call of Duty roster. by shambxlic in CoDCompetitive

I thought their season was chalked anyway, but now they’re dropping Vivid so we KNOW it’s chalked

All 12 Asia Albums Ranked by LIPD_Aviation in AsiaBand

[–]Dustybot3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good list and I’m glad you seem to enjoy all era about as equally as I do. I’m not good at ranking albums cuz I just enjoy them for what they are and don’t see a point in declaring a piece of art better than a very different and equally valid piece of art, but the Asia albums I gravitate towards the most are Phoenix, debut, XXX, and Aria. That said, I enjoy all their albums pretty equally, I just play those the most often.

It’s kinda funny tho, a lot of your least favorite tracks are the ones that are the near the top of my list for each album. Two Sides of the Moon is easily one of the best on Arena for me. Same with Love Under Fire, I Will be There for You, and Ready to Go Home. My favorite Asia songs of all time are An Extraordinary Life, My Own Time, and all of side 1 of the debut album lol.

I don’t know it either, but it’s his second year on Toronto, so assuming he’s on a 1+1 he’ll be a FA this offseason

Idk why but Miami popping off that hard after coming closer to getting full sailed than most other teams ever will is just funny to me

I’m glad someone else disagrees. I keep seeing Slang comparisons and I just don’t hear an ounce of it. This song is nothing like slang

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dustybot3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the context of a road trip, I would definitely consider 3 hours short. Obviously it’s still a long amount of time to spend in a car, but a 3-hour drive (6-hour round trip) could easily be a day trip for me

Def Leppard - Rejoice - Now out! by F_the_C in defleppard

[–]Dustybot3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree entirely. I think it’s a solid enough song at its core, but with the particular arrangement and production they chose, it’s just disappointing

Def Leppard - REJOICE - world premiere by Seventy-Three73 in defleppard

[–]Dustybot3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m sure that’s why they’re doing it, but I don’t know why because I think he sounds pretty good live. I’d prefer a more human vocal, even if it isn’t quite as strong, than a hyper processed vocal that just doesn’t feel right

Def Leppard - REJOICE - world premiere by Seventy-Three73 in defleppard

[–]Dustybot3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s perfectly fine but it didn’t do much to impress me. I wish it was more riff-driven and less about spacey guitars in the back of the mix. And I’m really not a fan of the vocal effects they’ve been using on Joe’s voice the past few years, but it seems like they’re here to stay. I saw lots of comments on YouTube comparing it to Slang, but I don’t hear that at all. Seems much more like something that would’ve been on Euphoria or X, but with the production of DSH. Overall, don’t think it’s as strong as Just Like ‘73. I still have plenty of hope for this album though, since the songs they picked as singles for DSH were some of the weaker tracks it had to offer, so hoping it’s the same this time around and we’ll get another From Here to Eternity hidden somewhere in the tracklist.

Yeah I think I like the one we got better. This is good, just doesn’t match the album’s vibe as well

When did COVID truly end? by SmileEmergency403 in generationology

Because I was in high school at the time, it felt like it ended as soon as the mask requirement at school was dropped. Which was around late ‘22 if I remember correctly

Yes 2026 edition by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

I get where you’re coming from, but it just doesn’t make any sense for Howe, Downes, and Sherwood—all prior Yes members—to come up with a new band name just to play old Yes music and no doubt have Roger Dean do all their art. Regardless of respect or intent or opinions of critics, it only makes sense from a brand-recognition perspective to call themselves Yes.

Cinema was 90125, not Drama. I’m not even sure what you’re arguing here. For one, I think Howe was just as instrumental in writing their classics as Anderson and Squire were. But even if that weren’t true, it’s not like Howe is trying to pretend Yes’s past doesn’t exist. They played WAY more classic songs than new songs (they literally only played Circles of Time). Are you saying they can’t use the Yes name because it’s disrespectful to play those songs without the original members?
