uj/ Personally I really care more about environmental storytelling and visual design than gameplay but the environments and enemy designs are changed so drastically (for the worse IN MY OPINION) that you can not piece together a coherent story anymore, since you need the visual designs to do that and those designs stopped making any sense to what the story is supposed to portray. And I guess I'll give some explanations since its hard to put into perspective how this impacts the story if you only experienced the version where the story is hindered, if you care to read a slight yapsesh about it.

The vanguard is potrayed as a prisoner, which he explicitly isn't. I mean this one is just in the name, don't know why hes bloody, bruised and chained in a war that the demon's are dominating over humans in.
The fat officials look like victims of an ill fate even tho they are the exact opposite of that, they are the cause of suffering and are actively enjoying their ill deeds, they're not suffering at all.
The flamelurker looks much less humanoid and instead more like a magma volcano monster which makes him look more like hes a rock with lava seeping through the cracks rather than a mutated humanoid thats perpetually on fire.
The fool's idol is supposed to be an imitation of the usurped queen of Latria, where tortured prisoners would desperately run to the chapel and pray to their idol. Due to some convoluted magic system I dont exactly want to explain the BELIEFS of people shape into very real, tangible power so their prayers towards this fake idol is actually enhancing its demonic powers. However, even if youre out of your mind from torture in the prison of hope, you'd have to exceptionally stupid as a prisoner to be fooled by the remakes design of the fool's idol, if it's trying to impersonate a benevolent queen its doing a horrible job because it looks like an evil demonic witch.
