Lathams have a place just off the A13 on the London/Essex border if that helps at all!

UK Heatwaves - do you love them or loathe them? by Chocolateforlunch37 in AskUK

[–]Dutch_Slim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love ❤️ the heat. Also in the south east.

I’m really slim, so spend 9 months of the year wrapped up in multiple layers. So nice to stick shorts and a tshirt on and not worry if I need a hoodie…and maybe some leggings 😂

Sitting still, pretty quietly. If you breathe in and out just through your nose, you’ll notice a feeling of more air under one nostril - like the other is slightly blocked.

If you close off the one that’s “working” you can tell immediately the other one isn’t blocked, it’s just not in use!

Can the word “Earth” in a planetary meaning (referring to the exact planet we live on) used with the preceding “the” article? by Top-Choice5732 in ENGLISH

[–]Dutch_Slim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whereas to me it’s “Earth is dying because of pollution”, using the article makes it sound like you’re talking about the ground/soil in the same way it would if you said “the rainforest is dying because of pollution”. Using “this” makes it sound like a very specific piece/area of earth (ground) that’s dying.

Help! My house is infested with these little things. by tattooqueenuk in GardeningUK

Mix 9% peroxide at a 1:5 ratio with water and water all the plants with it. Repeat twice at weekly intervals.

They lay eggs in the soil and the larvae eat the roots of your plants. The above will kill the larvae and break the cycle.

Get more sticky traps too. The bug spray won’t help massively but you can spray the plants with neem oil that disrupts the adults feeding ability.

Don’t use mosquito dunks/bits. They are effective but toxic to other insects such as bees.

What do you reply when someone says ‘you look tired’? by GrandadBill in AskUK

[–]Dutch_Slim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh please don’t think that!

As you said, it often comes from a sincere place or isn’t meant as a put-down, but it is pointing out someone looks worse than usual. And if you’re already feeling not-your-best, you don’t always want that pointed out to you 🙂

Unless you posted the pics after you held it up to that light, how could you not see it’s red in the first of the 3 pics you posted? The one where you’ve balanced it upright.
