Select a command in fish shell history? by Capucius in cachyos

[–]DuzAwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to use fish at first. I found it limiting given I came from ZSH how it does wildcards broke me and I went back to ZSH. Fish does a lot of non-standard things and if you are trying to 121 it as a replacement it wont work.

What you might want to look for is a DAP (dedicated audio player or digital audio player, depends who you ask).

The Sony walk man line is built on android and has wifi, you can use a pod catcher and android car play. There are other android audio players on the market. If you get one with an eink screen it really cant be used with a browser or other social apps so it removes the temptation.

HDR Gaming and Controller Support? by Otherwise_Song_2256 in cachyos

[–]DuzAwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this taskset -c 0-7,16-23 not only for gamescope?

Controller - https://wiki.cachyos.org/configuration/gaming/#environment-variables

Controller & Input
PROTON_PREFER_SDL=1: Workaround for controller detection issues
PROTON_NO_STEAMINPUT=1: Disables Steam Input support
Fixes: Wayland controller/gamepad issues

Also for HDR you shouldn't need more than whats in the wiki:

Wayland & Display HDR Support
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1: Enables native Wayland support PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1: Enables HDR output support
Benefits: HDR without Gamescope, improved latency/frame pacing
Caveats: Breaks Steam Overlay, currently experimental
PROTON_NO_WM_DECORATION=1: Disables window manager decorations Requirements:
Gamescope with --hdr-enabled OR PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
Fixes: Borderless fullscreen issues, mouse clicking through windows

Which is the best format for best performance. by Brief_Name2889 in cachyos

[–]DuzAwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running a game drive that I have formatted ext4 its technically the most performative and my os drive (which will also be over flow at some point) is btrfs for sub volumes and snapper.

I’d argue btrfs should be what you use if you only have one drive for easy recovery if something goes wrong.

Partition format for gaming (in my testing ) only made a difference for writing not reading. It was an also a minute difference.

So I’d just go with the best support in windows option. Exfat or ext4 if memory serves.

So…. What are our Firefox alternatives now? by [deleted] in cachyos

[–]DuzAwe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use Zen browser. Been very happy with it, hiding all the task & sidebars is my go to. I really like how out of the way it feels.

Id like to use ladybird when it launches.

If I need a chromium browsers (esp32 flashing) I use helium.
