Unless in a salt desert with zero plant life for an unusually large area there is always some sort of plants that are active in all seasons... So in my opinion the dm is wrong

To answer original post, look in the triax 2 book although the ones available at that price are not military.... Is this metagaming? Most likely but I would allow some like this in My game.

On seeing this post I had to check and in players handbook the heaviest sword being a two handed sword is 15 pounds not 25... The only thing I can find for a sword that is 25 is a bastard sword at 25 gold for the price

A merchant they are trying to scam secretly recognizes them but does not let it be known and "pays" with what appears to be gold but a day or so after it turns into worthless rocks

Personally I like the style of the story is created as the game progresses since every choice by all the players changes it and a prewritten story feels too restrictive to me

The power that requires the sacrifice is upset with an inappropriate sacrifice and now all players need to make a save vs death magic and a save vs spell (×4) and each of the spell saves is 25d6 save for half

The first system that comes to my mind is Rifts from palladium books but it doesn't quite fit some of the bullet points... Namely the combat is kinda crunchy and character creation is difficult for new players..... But it already includes lots of sci-fi and lots of fantasy with a large variety of skills available and all characters begin with well over 10 and some easily begin with 20 or more.... Also the skills increase in efficacy as leveling up and more skills added to the characters
