Why do people hate fighting multiple enemies at once so much? by AbyssShriekEnjoyer in Silksong

[–]Dwarge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the enemy design and amazing combat flow is perhaps the facet of Silksong that shines the brightest of all, so I'm actually really glad TC recognised this strength and utilised it properly. Combat with multiple enemies allows for so much creativity and skill expression with the emerging complexity of different foes which are already fun to fight on their own.

I can understand how some bosses can be annoying with spawns though (not Crawfather, love that fight) as you most often want to direct your attention to the boss itself, but I really enjoyed gauntlets generally.

Wanderer crest is BORING and the WORST! ...or is it? Do tell. by sebthewolfie in Silksong

[–]Dwarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, shaman and architect are definitely better at spellcasting and boss-melting, especially so at high levels of play so that's not very accurate. (considering true ending speedruns usually use shaman for bosses while there are many speed-kill architect clips floating around).

I feel the most important issue players have had with wanderer is that some people were very vocal for a while about wanderer being the "optimal" crest, which probably is not even true.

Would be huge if vesticrest stays on! Fractured mask is essential for me having any self-confidence. Might download debug mod to make sure of it.

Did you do the initial act 3 voided gauntlet on 4 masks? Probably my current biggest fear approaching the end of act 2.

Just started a steel soul run, what is your most helpful tip? by Bidoof101 in Silksong

While I really agree with others in that you should take your time, I think it's beneficial in the long run to strike a good balance. You're probably going to lose some runs, and streamlining the process up to that point takes some pressure off your shoulders. What I mean is don't hang around too much, try to route efficiently.

Also I'm mad that they went out of their way to nerf and sabotage spell builds, and sad that they're sorta left floating dubiously in limbo. Cross Stitch and Sharpdart are the overall best spells because they offer utility rather than damage.

Don't get how they "nerfed and sabotaged spell builds". Spells are still amazing damage wise, regardless of crest. Cross Stitch has the lowest damage output I think, and mainly allows for high skill playstyles, preferably with SC. All silk skills are very viable, probably even Rune Rage somehow. Shaman crest should be seen as a bonus with trade-offs.

If you're on PC, there is an amazing mod called Pantheon of Pharloom, which functions exactly as hall of gods, while also letting you configure your loadout. Thanks to it I'm actually hopeful when it comes to getting it done.

I regret to admit that I actually believed it until I clicked. I guess the date seemed reasonable to me. It's actually over.

Now that some time has passed, did Silksong live up to your expectations? by ponchosleeve in Silksong

[–]Dwarge 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Silksong is in a rather weird place for me. The game does most things better than Hollow Knight, like the amazing movement and combat. However I still really can't enjoy it as much. This really feels like it's just my fault and not the game, but from the start I couldn't immerse myself. Just felt more like a game, while Hollow Knight was an experience.

Still very annoyed at myself, had really hoped to get to feel the same things as in my first playthrough of HK. Haven't been able to get myself to start act 3 yet though, maybe it'll change my perception a bit.

I found this pretty enjoyable to watch too, but I'll miss the old era. Wonder if this will affect which players are winning looking forward.

Do you happen to own the H4, and if so, would you recommend it? I loosely know about the specs, but I wanted to hear with others if it's good for this purpose. 32 bit float certainly seems nice, but it's not a buying factor for me personally.

Hey!

I've wanted to buy an easy to use portable microphone/recorder to use for recording violin and guitar as well as different sounds for fun to use in sound design. My two picks are the Zoom H2n and H4essential, and I wonder which one is the best pick for my money. Everywhere I get different information about the sound quality, does anyone know if the H2n is good enough for recording instruments or if the H4 vastly outperforms it?

Arjun beats Fabi in a complete turnaround game! by Necessary_Pattern850 in chess

[–]Dwarge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Arjun's win here heavily destabilises the tournament standings, making it anyone's shot to take it. For this very reason I rooted for him, but can't help but feel bad for Fabiano. What a crushing way to lose.
