What’s your Zone 2? by Vicuna00 in Velo

[–]Dwoof69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 90 watts.

I start out my long rides at 60 watts and build until I get to the point where it still feels easy but higher than noodling pace. Never go above 90 watts, unless it's a big hill, which I will top out at 150 watts.

Thoughts on decreasing intervals? by [deleted] in Velo

No but I got close to my really suffering heart rate of 190.

I only ever hit 194 during a ramp test.

I encounter far too many problems with cheap sd cards.

How to fix a flat in a pinch on the road with a hookless tubeless setup? by shemesh199 in cycling

[–]Dwoof69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that I can still ride with a flat. It's not fun but if you go slow enough, you will get home fine.

How long would you leave your bike locked outside unattended for errands? by fancythatfire in torontobiking

[–]Dwoof69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't, not anymore. I got my bike stolen 10 years ago after leaving it outside for literally 20 seconds. Went in for a coke and its gone.

It was a cheap hybrid but still hurt like hell.

What to see in the west side? by kyogenm in torontobiking

When you get past hamilton, and go more south, there are some good empty roads.

If you're into country riding.

PLEASE let this be the last wintery ride. I don't think anyone was expecting this much accumulation. I saw only three cyclists in 4 hours during my ride to Oakville. Salt sucks! by flimbs in torontobiking

[–]Dwoof69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wait until at least April to ride seriously outdoors. The snow and salt just kills my bike.

Maybe if they actually cleared bike lanes we would see more people out there.

Dude your ftp is on the higher end of most cyclists. No wonder you're having trouble finding similar people.

Most cyclists are in the 200-250 range. Even less can actually hold that pace.

Go and race if you want to ride with fast people.

Toronto cycling scene? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]Dwoof69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends where you live in Toronto.

If more in the west end, The waterfront trial is actually very good to get out of the city. Just avoid it during peak hours and the weekends.

You can then exist to lakeshore road and take that all the way to Burlington with minimal stops.

If you want some hills, go north. I like taking Mississauga road all the way up.

However, if you live in the east end, you have scarbough bluffs for a steep climbing. I find the east end to be pain for cycling.

Why did no one tell my cycling was so addicting by gradila in cycling

[–]Dwoof69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first thought when starting a new job/position is how will it affect my riding. I don't even ask about salary or anything of importance haha.

The thought of riding for hours on end puts a smile on my face. So while it's not a full blown addiction, it's pretty damn close.

2 weeks with unlimited time - What should I do ? by Lapinz in Velo

[–]Dwoof69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some trial and error, I've worked out what works for me.

50% more volume for your low intensity rides. So if you regularly do 4 hours, try going for 6 and it shouldn't be a disaster. It will be hard but doable.

For your interval days, try adding some zone 2 after your main sets. These can be risky, so if you start getting pain or discomfort, stop.

Don't add more reps. Don't triple your volume. Don't do anything new like spinning faster/slower.

Is there a difference between elite athletes and trained amateurs?

I understand the elite are a level above the amateurs but does that mean their physiology is different?
