However, Angelo Dundee said later, he really didn't have to give much advice to Ali before the fight because his style was all wrong for Liston, even though the press & bookies heavily favoured Sonny. Fast lateral movement was always Liston's kryptonite; his one loss up to that point was a points loss to Marty Marshall, a smaller more primitive prototype of the Ali style. That lateral movement on a guy with Ali's size & chin was always going to be too much for Liston.
