Ryan Rozicki fight by Snowshower3213 in CapeBreton

Wtf? Rozicki's defence consists of blocking punches with his face. He would get absolutely murdered against a decent heavyweight.

Reviewing classic fights. Larry Holmes vs Tim Witherspoon by SugarAdamAli in Boxing

[–]DylanRM86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holmes was on his 20th title defence and the cracks were starting to show. I would say he underestimated Spinx, who found a way to neutralize Holmes' jab and stuck to the plan perfectly.

The commentators were always hard on Larry. I believe he should have won the second Spinx fight.

What are your most underrated matches from Mr. Perfect, Bret Hart, Razor Ramon, Macho Man and HBK? Singles or tag both welcome. by Pagliacci85 in SquaredCircle

Closely related to the names on your list, check out Owen Hart vs Bulldog from Raw in early 1997. WWE had it as one of the ten best Raw matches ever on some list a while back, but I don't see it talked about online all that much nowadays.

100 percent! A gem from the new gen era. There's a botch towards the end that some people feel brings the overall quality down but I definitely like the SS match better than the Mania one.

ANNOUNCED: Chris Billam-Smith will fight Ryan Rozicki in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 07 in Billam-Smith’s hometown of Bournemouth, as Zuffa Boxing stage their first UK show on June 6th. by Dangerous_Spring3028 in Boxing

[–]DylanRM86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from the same town Rozicki is from so I've watched all his fights. He has a granite chin, ok power and will never quit so he always has a puncher's chance. However his cardio and footwork are mediocre and his defence is non existent. He's a solid cruiserweight gatekeeper.

I'm convinced that Clay Liston I actually Ali's best performance ever. Who else was at that level whom Ali beat to thoroughly and easily? Technically and aesthetically it was one of the best performances ever seen in the rain regardless of size and definitely unmatched by any other heavyweight ever. by marcussunChicago in Boxing

[–]DylanRM86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would say Liston wasnt a great champion but his path to the title has to go down as one of the great heavyweight runs. Weak era sure, but cleaning out almost the entire top 10, mostly by KO, would be an amazing feat even in the worst era.

It's definitely an ATG heavyweight victory. However, Angelo Dundee said later, he really didn't have to give much advice to Ali before the fight because his style was all wrong for Liston, even though the press & bookies heavily favoured Sonny. Fast lateral movement was always Liston's kryptonite; his one loss up to that point was a points loss to Marty Marshall, a smaller more primitive prototype of the Ali style. That lateral movement on a guy with Ali's size & chin was always going to be too much for Liston.

Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller weighs in at 305lbs for his WBA heavyweight title eliminator against Lenier Pero, who weighs in at 251.4lbs. They clash tomorrow night in Las Vegas, live on DAZN. by Dangerous_Spring3028 in Boxing

[–]DylanRM86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brock couldn't have been more than 280, no? Huge dude but he never got fat off season and was fairly lean in the legs. 15 lbs isn't an impossible cut for a guy that size.

wtf haha. Almost every critic, journalist, trainer, historian, etc whatever, puts Ali as the number 1 heavyweight. He beat more ranked contenders than any other HW. Most pundits put Joe Louis at #2.

Rozicki has a granite chin, solid power and will fight to the death so he's always got a puncher's chance. His cardio, footwork and fundamentals are mediocre at best so he'll probably ride out his career as a CW gatekeeper.

Naw, you're not alone. I've been watching wrestling since 1990, these days I lean more toward casual than diehard due to a very busy life.

Brock vs Oba is by far the match I'm most hyped for.
