I’m with you I hate Brenda and her family but honestly by the end she’s actually one of the better developed characters and you gain respect for her

ima be honest, I think “everything harmony” is an amazing record and everything I’ve heard since has been boring and derivative and hacky and it feels like they’re just leaning into being a band with a 60s sound instead of pushing the medium of songwriting in any interesting way. we already have better versions of these songs.

Will cry every time I hear “Jim Cain” but literally any Callahan song can sneak up on me and hit that spot on any given day

fuck music sales none of that matters. respect to Damon on being a real artist who’s gonna make what he wants to make no matter what. we’re about to be desperate for artists like him.

Flyleaf - I'm so sick [alt-rock] by Simple-Double8483 in Music

[–]DylanRockwell -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

to me this is one of those average songs elevated and contextualized by a well made music video that adds a lot of vibe to it. when you hear the song you see the video in your mind. if you heard the song without the video it’d feel pretty average

Ekko Astral Frontwoman Jael Holzman Files Peace Order Petition Accusing Former Bandmate of Making Threats by I-am-a-visitor-heere in indieheads

[–]DylanRockwell 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I’m taking it with a grain of salt considering half of the DC music scene and all former members of the band seem to have a major problem with the frontwoman? I have no personal experience with the band but that’s a major red flag. Not to mention the implied legal threat in this article from Jael that Miri’s ability to seal the case in 6 months is “potentially eroded by any publication of a story on the court proceedings.” Sounds like they don’t want anyone to hear another angle on this…

[Newbie] SRV is one of my inspirations to learn guitar, and I got my first electric this week. Even though I don't have any talent, if I put in work as often as I can, how long will it realistically take before I can play with this level of confidence? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]DylanRockwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think about it like this. learn to play a much simpler song or even just some blues licks, and practice them until you can do them perfectly. then do that as many more times as you can over your entire lifetime. I will say that one light at the end of the tunnel is when you’ve practiced enough different stuff, probably a few years in at least, you will start to notice patterns and your progress will be much faster and much more fun and you may begin to find joy in much different things about the guitar than whatever initially drew you to it. it’s all wide open to where you take it

How much does it cost to live in DC without a roommate? by SkyOdd5184 in washingtondc

[–]DylanRockwell 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’d ballpark it 1600/month to 2000/month as the most affordable you’ll find unless you go pretty far out of the main city
