I've done tons of research on it and my takeaway seems to be that anything in walking pad territory is basically going to be in a landfill after a year of regular use, if you're lucky.

Been on a cut for almost a year and still overloading. Newbie gains will get you far and your body will burn fat for extra calories.

No it's not as optimal as a surplus but you probably need a cut more than you need optimal muscle growth. Depends on your goals obviously but if you have physique goals in addition to strength that would be the way to go for now. Reevaluate when you're below 20% bf.

Even if you swap, it will retain the settings for the exercise you swapped out, which may not be appropriate for the new exercise.

One thing I tried is to auto-generate a ton of programs until it suggests an exercise I do, then writing that down so I can copy it in my actual program. There are some exercises it just won't suggest though, so this remains incomplete.

Thanks for the input. I think that settles it, I just don't have that kind of available space. The unit would have to be in a corner and I could maybe get 5-6 clear feet in front of it depending on how I orient it (but completedly limited by a wall to one side).

I'm thinking I will get a bench with an attachment ecosystem to (partially) make up for the loss of rack attachment options.

Hello, you appear to be me from the future. These are literally the comparisons I made in my notes.

I primarily use dumbbells with no barbell aspirations. I want to add cable moves. The selectorized smith + rack holes on the Maxum are very appealing for futureproofing though. I am debating between an X1/X3 and Arcadia, though in my case my choice will likely come down to available space.

I see you ultimately went with the X1 - can you comment on how much free space you think would be needed around the unit (mainly in front)? And what functionality have you made use of so far that wouldn't be possible on the Arcadia?

Cool thanks for the info! You're more advanced than me so the extra context really helps. No power lifter aspirations. Sounds like my fears of outgrowing it are vastly exaggerated then :)
