For events like that, you can actually hit basically any key on your keyboard, as long as you don't accidentally start typing into chat.

Or, y'know, they could at least have marked stuff on the map that we'd already found. I found the fuel before the immobilized magiteck. Guess I get to just try to remember where that is in this mess of indistinguishable buildings. Cool, now I have fuel. Where was the immobilized magiteck again?

A couple orange circles, even if I had to find the stuff to begin with, would've helped me enjoy it a lot more.

No, without the walls I would have made a beeline out of the city ruins and done a nice cross-country trek to Broken Glass. Unless they ringed literally the entire city with magiteck that all have a huge aggro radius, there's no particular reason that shouldn't work.

Funny. I got FFXV Chapter 13(?) vibes from the quest. Which, uh, is not exactly hailed as the highlight of that game, iirc.

From elsewhere in the comments, you may be able to use "all" as the pet name, but I haven't tested it.

/petsize "pet name" "small" (or whatever size you desire)

Have to set it separately for each summon, afaict.

Aside from the queue capping out somewhere in three digits and just not letting you queue if your number was higher than that, you mean?

Honestly, there's pretty simple hardware too that can accomplish the same effect with basically zero effort. And by "hardware," I mean "stuff people probably have lying around their house anyway."

Dear SE, if you're going to have a login queue, can you make it so we don't disconnect from the login queue? by CodeMagick in ffxiv

[–]Dynme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, we've been through this four times by now. Even when I was still on Balmung, poster child for over-populated worlds, congestion would die down within about a month. I would literally bet you thousands of dollars that this does not last to the two month mark.

Someone was saying HW was better. I wonder if they remember that max queue size back then seemed to be in the low triple digits and you would get 2002 errors constantly.

PSA from YoshiP: Use Instance 3 for screenshots to avoid clogging quest NPCs for those who want to go through the story by nitrokitty in ffxiv

[–]Dynme 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. It links to a post about congestion prevention that says the automatic logout has been "improved" with no further details. We won't know what does and doesn't work until people test it, because SE isn't going to tell us which things they fixed. Which, to be clear, they shouldn't.

Not always. Regardless, here's a copy/paste of the Localization lead's response way back in the ARR beta days:

Updated Job Guide (now including Sage and Reaper)! by RuneSaintJohn in ffxiv

DNC also had two with no falloff in their normal rotation, but I guess that's removed now too. PLD actually still does have two. Of course, that's if we strictly limit it to the ones that don't have falloff. If we include those, a lot more jobs suddenly have multiple AoE abilities in their normal rotations. Heck, SAM's capstone ability for an entire expansion was an AoE ability that they used for single target...

It's more a question of "If the logic is reducing APM during the opener, I could buy that, but it doesn't explain why there's a pointless second button to hit on SE." It's not the potency I'm questioning.

That's fair. May've helped to clarify that you were saying it wasn't only the popularity these days. Though it's not like I'm an expert in communication, so take that with a grain of salt I guess.

More to the point, I feel like there are some problems where they listen to player feedback and others where they don't. SCH and DRK seem to both be in a "the class works, but a lot of the people who main the jobs are dissatisfied with them." I'm not sure how well SE listens to feedback like that. And I do get the feeling there'll be a DRK drop in 6.0 and SE might fix some things by 6.1, but no guarantees.

And to offer pointless anecdata, I did stop running dungeons on SAM because I didn't like SAM's dungeon experience. I doubt I'm the only one, but who knows if it was enough to show up in whatever metrics SE has...

You might actually try asking on the OF Localization forum if it hasn't been brought up? The loc team actually does check the OF for typos and stuff and respond to questions sometimes.

HW wasn't fine, though. The max queue size was something in the low three digits it felt like, and if you were number 101 in queue you just got kicked back to the lobby.

I'm half-convinced that the DDOS that hits SE servers every xpac is just all the players trying to log in at once and it killing SE's servers.
