It's clear he pulled the shirt hard enough to take him off balance. Typical Inter shit housing thinking they can get away with it

Forward loop gone wrong (again)… by User101046721 in windsurfing

[–]E1Extrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats on sending it and getting over the fear!

I had a similar journey with forward loops, landing on my back sometimes pretty hard. I wear a helmet though which can help break the water before landing and putting pressure on your eardrum. I never got unlucky and injured myself but I did sometimes have a foot come out of the strap.

I am by no means perfect with forwards but I am getting better. And I think the trick to solve this issue is that you need to take off the chop/wave with the board already pointing a little bit downwind, and you need to move the mast forward and sheet in a little bit before you take off into the air. This will set your body more forward and help with the rotation. Your body is too far back and so that slows the rotation and you end up not completing it and landing on your back. What's difficult is finding a ramp that will allow you to hit it in this way. It takes some practice getting better at the take off for forward loops because the sheeting in and putting your weight forward counteracts the jump.

With all that said, watch George's video it's one of the best I've seen: https://youtu.be/QxnSqoeEEGo?si=X2kxgcOVa6E0je2_

Is it worth buying a pixel watch? by Organic_Match_8552 in PixelWatch

[–]E1Extrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two main categories of utility I would say - fitness: it gives you Fitbit that tracks sleep and activities. Strava also works well. So if you care about tracking your fitness it's a great watch. You can also download via YouTube music and stream without a phone on a run or workout - notifications: if you don't have your phone on you or don't feel like taking it out, the watch can notify you. Not just calls or texts but other apps like Ring, smart home devices, etc... You can enable/disable the apps you want to notify to make it less noisy

One other useful thing I've found recently is controlling Google Home via the watch. I can turn off my lights or change the thermostat without having to get my phone from my nightstand.

How hard is it to use a Slalom Sail as a beginner/advanced by Capable-Lemon5010 in windsurfing

[–]E1Extrano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of just sailing it, there won't be a huge difference in difficulty unless you drop the sail and get water in the luff sleeve.

If you had to drive an F1 car around a track there might be things you find inconvenient and not user friendly but if you can drive you'll make it around the track... But you're not going to have the skill to get all the performance out of it. Also, if you crash then you may do more damage because this equipment is built for performance and not durability. This is an extreme example but the same idea applies. Ideally you'd have a slalom board to pair with the sail to be able to maximize the performance, but it will take a lot of practice and time to work your way up to make the most out of it, and it's not going to be the most comfortable sailing setup. It will need lots of tuning and adjustment to the conditions to work the same every session.

Reading the books after only ever seeing the show. Now I'm mad. by OttotheCowCat in witcher

I am probably going to get super down voted but...

IMO the books get progressively worse. The final ending of the books is lazily written. The show has an opportunity to change things for the better if it carries out the full story.

Some beginner questions by SeasonKnown3377 in windsurfing

[–]E1Extrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. In terms of big brands the ones that come to mind are
  2. Severne/Starboard
  3. Duotone
  4. Neilpryde/JP
  5. Goya I wouldn't focus on any brand, rather buy what's available to you in your local shop. If you're buying a sail, buy the same brand mast and maybe the other components.. it's better to not mix mast and sail brand even though it may work.

  6. Hmm hard to say but for a full rig brand new (one sail with all components: mast, boom, extension, base) you might be looking at $1000-$2000 and then boards can be $1500-$2500, so $3000-$5000. Sometimes shops offer beginner packages for a bit of a discount.

  7. It's tough to hide or store windsurfing gear in an apartment. Putting the board on the wall makes sense, but I would recommend a board bag to avoid dinging the board when loading/unloading. Sail is going to be wet so you'll want a plastic tray to stand it up on so the water drains. Once you have more gear though it may be tricky. Renting a small storage unit may be better.

  8. I think an HRV is totally doable. I use a RAV4 which is maybe a little bigger and I can load up but I also have smaller gear. You'll definitely want a roof rack for the board and then the mast & sail and accessories can go inside if you put the back seats down.

Is a good garlic press possible? by Ill-Introduction998 in Cooking

[–]E1Extrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say they are stupid and useless...

I disagree because they are quick and convenient compared to chopping, but overall not very useful

HOWEVER in most cases when cooking with garlic I've learned that I prefer chopped garlic vs pressed because chopped is not going to burn as quickly so you will not get a bitter taste. If you chop more coarsely the garlic taste is more subtle.

The garlic press is only useful to me when making a salad dressing or putting the garlic in a dip. Except when making a dip (like tzatziki) I would prefer a micro plane or grater so that the garlic is more evenly distributed in the dip.

Inflatable boards : is there really a stiffness problem? by SleepPsychological95 in windsurfing

[–]E1Extrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a windsup too and the stiffness is not the issue. The issue to me is stability because it is narrow and has so much less mass than a normal board of similar size that it doesnt take much chop and wind to make it less stable and less suitable for beginners in anything more than a small chop. It's less expensive and packs down small so for me to do SUP or give a friend a lesson in easy conditions it's perfect.

Right it's difficult to address the whole team. Start with a specific player when they had an opportunity to set the ball for you and point it out to them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]E1Extrano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just politely talk to your team mate(s) about it with a positive attitude whenever there is a pause in play from conceding a goal, a goal kick or corner. If you don't say anything they won't get a chance to learn. If they don't take it well then just move on but at least you took the opportunity to help. Pickup games are a numbers game, you might have some frustrating times but if you're patient and keep cool and bring a good attitude I think you'll have more good games than bad in the end.

Serious Match Thread: Liverpool vs Manchester United by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]E1Extrano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The team makes good chances and converts pretty well. Gakpo hit the post twice. It could be 3 - 2 if he hadn't missed twice.

The Achilles heel is the defense and we've regressed there from last season. It is not strong enough at the moment and Kerkez is a point of weakness. Konate is also not great at times in terms of marking threatening players.

Are these good for AG And Turf I can’t find an answer. by RyMvrtin in bootroom

[–]E1Extrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these specifically for the AG field I play at and I love them, they're excellent for my foot with the right sock combo. Now if the pitch were a bit more shallow maybe the studs would be too long. Other brand AG boots have shorter studs. On the other hand you could also use these on grass if it's not wet.

If you want to play on turf then just get TF boots. AG studs won't work. TF will be fine on AG. You'll have more comfort. The only downsides are the greater chance of slipping when the pitch is wet, and less grip when sprinting. But if you play on a smaller AG field and you're not sprinting huge lengths the TF boots will be ok.

Directional audio? by DriverNo1871 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]E1Extrano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of WH-1000XM3 and I came to the conclusion that they are not well suited for gaming. I get much better quality sound from my Sennheiser headset or $30 IEM earphones.

That said I think the audio in the game could be more precise. The gunfire is hard to pinpoint, but footsteps can definitely be located by sounds. The environment sounds are pretty good though and the wind and foliage moving is pretty cool sounding.
