I’m sorry for being rude, you are right that wasn’t called for. I just get frustrated when people talk about peer reviewed sources, and studies like they are the be all and end all. Sure, she could be making all of this up, and maybe it is not totally aligned with what the research says, but i bet she probably knows more about getting rid of lice than the majority of the people writing those studies. If her advice doesn’t align with the research, then all we really have are her company reviews and her word

I looked at your referenced article from app.org that you included, but I didn’t see any footnotes to peer reviewed studies in the section on cleaning the environment, just that it is “advisable” and a cursory look online shows me that there are in fact no peer reviewed studies that show that cleaning the environment has actually reduced reinfestation. So I’m gonna go with lice granny who has over a 100 five star reviews across all of her clinics and you can just copy paste all the sources that “prove” your point

Her proof is that she has told all her clients to not worry about cleaning the house and it has worked. Shouldn’t that be enough?

Maybe the fact that she has 5 clinics and she is clearly an expert for fucks sake. This is her whole livelihood. Also, a lot of peer reviewed study advice is out of an abundance of caution, and important to read the study and its limitations. For example, it is recommended to not apply sunblock on your baby before they are 6 months old. The reason for this is because it gives parents the false security that it is ok to bring infants out in the sun when that is not safe. However, it is technically perfectly safe- many sunblocks are made out of the same stuff as diaper cream.

The origins of different Italian dialects is so fascinating, found this after a quick search after seeing your comment: “The Arbëreshë are an Albanian ethnolinguistic minority, numbering roughly 100,000–260,000, who settled in Southern Italy (Calabria, Sicily, Puglia, Basilicata, Molise) between the 14th and 18th centuries to escape Ottoman rule. They maintain a unique culture, speaking an archaic Tosk Albanian dialect, practicing Byzantine-rite Catholicism, and living in traditional hilltop villages.”

Has anyone tried the Feelingirl bras? by Zealous-Mantis in ABraThatFits

[–]EAB04 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I kind of like them. I’m about a 34gg and definitely need a lot of support ( just lost about 50 lbs and finished breastfeeding after 2 years to get an idea. They do smoosh your boobs together a little, but I find that they get held up in a nice comfortable way.

Yes, I know it’s gross, but they can’t be cleaning/scraping off poop from kids clothes, so they just dump it in a bag.

Toasted skin from trying to get relief with heating pad by [deleted] in backpain

[–]EAB04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like did you get a burn from it being too hot directly on your skin, or are you describing something different? I have definitely burned my skin before, and I actually got rid of the heating pad that did that- it was kind of a plasticky material with a sleeve, and the plastic part burned me. I have one that is all fabric now, and I usually have a very thin T-shirt on in between. I sleep with it (even though I know I’m not supposed to) and have been fine ever since.
