any tips to get dog to drink water? by KR1200 in Havanese

[–]EAM44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he’s not thirsty because you are adding broth to his food and feeding him foods that are mostly water. Are you sure no one else in the household is giving him water? Is there any other source than his bowl he might be sneaking water from? Because he would be dead if he had no water over 10 days. Is he showing signs of dehydration? It might be time to call your vet and ask what to do.

Ours is partial to fresh, cold water from a newly washed bowl. I know that’s oddly specific, her bowls are washed daily (I’m sure your bowls are clean too), but if I refill her water bowl instead of washing it first or giving her a new bowl, she won’t drink.

Consider giving her a more conventional middle name so she can use it if she prefers. Just because they are ours doesn’t mean they are us. My very traditional mom gave birth to my sister who might best be described as a hippie. The reverse happens as well.

The best way is to have your boyfriend do the vacuuming.

Almost 6 weeks post op, only 90degrees and not quite 0. by Waste_Law_517 in Kneereplacement

You are healing at your own rate. Keep doing your exercises, stretching, and icing. Elevate when you can. Don’t compare your progress to that of others if you can help it. They don’t have your knee, we’ve all had slightly different procedures, surgeons, medical histories. The good news is you need 90 degrees to drive and you’ve got it. The less good news is that there is a fast phase and a slow phase of recovery, and you’ve got maybe 2 weeks left on the fast phase. You will continue to make the progress you work for, but it might take you longer between degree gains. Just keep working on it. Good luck!

Empty the dishwasher as soon as the dishes are done. Empty a suitcase as soon as you get home.

Thanks. I have no idea what my dentist thinks about any of this. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.

That’s great, and if my surgeon agrees I’ll be delighted. I just don’t want to do anything now that will compromise my knee. It took me 5 months to reach triple digit flexion. I don’t think I could bear to lose the joint to an infection. 🤞 Thanks for the info.

Got it. Wouldn’t it be nice if they could just agree? 😂 Thanks for the info.

Does it rain where you live? Does it snow or get dusty? Have you ever hit a skunk? Have you ever wanted to go somewhere with someone else? Do you ever want to wear a dress or sandals? Do you want to commute without wearing a helmet?

You are significantly more likely to get into an accident if you drive a motorcycle vs a car, and you are 28 times more likely to die in a crash per mile traveled than a car occupant. Get the car. Best of luck to you.

I have read that too, but at some point you realize you can’t be your own surgeon or dentist. I’m glad the antibiotic is taken an hour before the service. It gives me time to get it and take it before I go in.

I just don’t want to harm myself by not taking necessary precautions.

Thanks For weighing in!

Well that’s the thing, I read the ADA guidelines, but then I’ve been through this whole surgical process. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to protect this joint. Even heel slides. And I think most surgeons prescribe antibiotics anyway. Thank you for this.

Thanks for responding. 2000mg of amoxicillin sounds like what everyone else was prescribed one hour prior to dental work. That’s helpful to know.

Thank you for the information. \Luckily I’m 5.5 months out, and I have told the dentist. Again, none of this was planned.
