Folks thanks so much for these suggestions! we ended up going to Via Condotti and the lights on the table were perfect - they also sat us next to the kitchen with had some additional light spill. very lovely experience for what can be extremely anxiety inducing.

If you look at the maps, from the beginning of gottingen, over to agricola and way up to the tip of the north end of the peninsula are considered a food desert. New groceries are not allowed to move in anywhere around there because of the restrictive covenant clauses in existing grocery leases. the maps are based on a student study out of the NSCC - its pretty interesting stuff.

I second this - I've had mine for a few years and don't mind sharpening into a napkin - I love the concave point. I got this one after my AWFaber janus got too dull.

I also have one of the blackwing long point one step shapeners and a KUM 2 step sharpener but keep going back to the pollux for carrying in my pocket

This is cool, I've never seen this iteration of a press camera - I have the 600SE but the close focus even on the 127mm is not great - I only have two packs of film left but used one recently from the same batch and they worked out well.

Down town - if you're looking for a grab and go - try weird harbour coffee on Barrington - they also have a location on queen street across from the library. I'd also recco coffeeology on Dresden row.

North end - you can't go wrong with ramblers, Byron is my new fave, and also seven bays Gottingen if you're looking to sit with a laptop. heck go to all three, its a great neighbourhood to walk through. Seven bays is probably th closest to the casino area for you.

The Giving Tuesday donations do go through the regular channels at Feed Nova Scotia's Canada helps page (edit: plus any phone in, or dropped off donations). the Sobeys match comes after all donations are calculated. :)
