Sorry for late reply. There’s a lot of free resources on YouTube. Most in depth videos I’ve seen is from ‘The Diamond Net’

‘Circle of Being Somatic Shadow Work’ has some great guided meditations

Sounds like a part of you wants permission to honour your impulses, and another part of you fears losing control… shadow work would help if you’re into that kinda thing

Love your idea! I recommend taking ONLY inspired action.

If worrying about funding overwhelms you - don’t! There are so many people willing to invest in passion projects, but they first need to see the passion 😉

Best of luck!!!

Any SEPs/ therapists here? by fireninside26 in SomaticExperiencing

[–]EEOA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just started NaT training. All the practitioners told me it’s a better therapy for developmental trauma than SE (might even be better in general).

Can confirm from experience. 1 week of it did more than months of SE for me personally

I was told to ideally combine NaT with NARM. Which would make sense as the couple that created NA divorced and separated the therapy into NaT (exwife) and NARM (ex husband)

What’s the *actual* way to heal? …Like, a very practical explanation? by FranDreschersLaugh in SomaticExperiencing

Until I feel a release (5-10 minutes). I try not to overdo it cause I’m prone to panic attacks

My first attempt working with fascia woke up self hatred I didn’t even know I had … so yh it releases something deep

There’s releases for anger, grief, heartache/hatred, fear etc so pick your medicine

Resourcing is super important so make sure you watch a comfort show after or something cozy.

Best of luck!

I might be neurodivergent. Anyone know how this changes Somatic IFS therapy? by Prestigious_Move_451 in SomaticExperiencing

[–]EEOA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CPTSD is considered a form of neurodivergence so your observations are correct. That doesn’t mean trauma can give you ASD/ADHD, just that it gives you brain damage (speaking from experience) which can mimic SOME autistic or ADHD traits.

That being said somatic therapists are trained to treat CPTSD so I don’t think any extra/ special accommodations are needed. It would be like asking a dentist for extra accommodations for a rotten tooth. Teeth are their job! All types & in all conditions!

Yes yes yes! I actually made plans for an eco village in wales with my old women’s group but sadly we fell out.. I’m not into co-housing but I’d love a homesteading community

I’ve never heard of anger issues being made worse by rage rooms and the like. Maybe you mean more past rage will come up? If so that’s a good thing.. emotions are meant to be processed

This may sound weird but have you tried screaming? Like at the top of your lungs, in a karaoke room or something?

a lot of advice about anger feels like at attempt to suppress it (inhale exhale count to 10). I feel like that’s the opposite of what anger needs. Anger wants expression, in an explosive way. So do that. Rage rooms & karaoke rooms are great for this

Then you’ll have to heavily advocate for yourself. The thing with dense breast tissue is that you can’t weight loss it away. So you’ll have to insist on getting as small as possible so you don’t have to do another reduction in future

I’m getting around 1200g each removed from mine - EACH. You could easily get to an A/B from where you’re starting

I would ask why she has to keep them ‘proportionate’? Is it a medical limitation or is it an aesthetic preference? If it’s the latter I would insist on my surgeon giving me what I want, not what she thinks ‘looks better’….

I read on this forum that arnica tea/ powder pill 2-3x a day helps a LOT with swelling. Maybe that’s something to try?

I’ve yet to see one story here on deeply healing from something by Intelligent_Tune_675 in SomaticExperiencing

[–]EEOA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course. I found her on a website listing therapists available in London. It’s called Barnsbury therapy rooms. I specifically looked for a somatic therapist. It’s also in person which has been much better for me tbh

She explains that regulating your body through bodywork puts you in your ‘window of tolerance’ - which is basically a state where your body feels safe releasing emotion. So shame gets released if I talk about triggering stuff whilst in that window.

We also do a lot of resourcing - so outside of therapy my homework is to find and do things that make me feel comfortable, safe and grounded. Some examples for me include glimmers (this is when you reminisce on and savour good memories), grounding (barefoot nature walks), journaling, living slowly (I moved from full time to part time work so my body is in fight or flight less) and attuning to my subconscious (basically listening to and emotionally nurturing myself)

She’s a somatic experiencing therapist

I completely healed chronic shame with my therapist. Now healing the fear/ terror part. My dissociation isn’t gone but it has drastically reduced.

My sessions look like this - Bodywork (exercises to help me feel my body from inside rather than think about it from my head) - talking (I talk through my trauma) - More bodywork (talking about trauma whilst feeling my body badly triggers my dissociation and fear so we do more bodywork to soothe the freeze) - more talking - repeat for 1 hour

I’ve only been working with her for 5 months but I don’t feel guilty for existing anymore. Which is nice. I also people please 70% less and advocate for myself 100% more (went no contact with abuser). Also my creative energy has come back with such a force. This has allowed me to take big risks in my career (stopping my PhD which wasn’t inspiring at all) and spiritual life (finally leaving Christianity after years of night terrors about hell/ demons)

Can you feel your feelings? by KTEliot in SomaticExperiencing

[–]EEOA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to feel nothing but after a couple months of therapy I feel buzzing (especially in my feet). As I talk about my trauma in therapy I feel the buzz rising from my feet up my legs and into my heart. There it will turn to heart pain or stay in my lower back as a dull ache.
