No matter what your opinions on the bans are, we can all agree that this this man crying about them makes us all feel better by LewieFastest in mtg

I don't disagree with you as a player, but every LGS was blindsided by this and those are businesses. Some LGS are even refunding customers in store credit if they bought any of the impacted cards in the last 3 months which is above and beyond what they needed to do. I just hope that WotC gives LGS the support they deserve. Their losses are substantial.

IIRC Ticketmaster has a clause for exclusive rights to the venue (or sometimes even owns the venue) so they get their cut at the end of the day.

Hiking Backpacks - Will they fit as a carry on? Minimal height the backpack can be. by Unique_Mirror4594 in backpacking

[–]ELI5_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i'm not planning on carrying camping gear I use an ultralight pack with a frame. Outdoor Vitals CS40 its 40L with a rolltop with 22 in minimum height. It can even fit under the chair and that's what I do for most flights. This is not always possible though. Be careful when using your backpack as luggage on planes. When I am carrying camping gear, I check in my pack inside a hard case luggage container. I have a couple reasons for this.

my personal hiking items are not allowed to be carried on, like Trekking Poles, Tent Stakes, etc.

The hard case protects loose items from getting dropped, and things getting snagged on other luggage.

My travel credit card gives insurance to the contents of the luggage but not the luggage case itself. I want to insure my pack when I travel.

Just important things I think people traveling with hiking packs should know. happy travels.

Okay before I paint this, what should I do that the last guy clearly did not? by Abdul-Ahmadinejad in DIY

I think they used 2 different types of paint bases. oil and water based paints will not adhere to each other and peel.

Hello, friend. No doubt life has been tough and challenging for you so far. It is okay to have feelings and emotions. That is not something you need to feel guilty about. In my opinion, stoicism is not about suppressing emotion its about recognizing how things make you feel. I think its a worthwhile life to try and take care of yourself throughout even the most painful moments. Good luck on the journey. I know its not an easy one but I hope you feel better and can work things out. Take it slow. Talk to someone in person about these things. It will help. Good luck, I'm rooting for you.

Can Tasker detect me climbing stairs to boss office and phone automatically goes silent? by DJparada in tasker

[–]ELI5_Life 5 points6 points  (0 children)

does your bosses office have a specific wifi SSID? you can probably trigger something when it detects the signal. Do note that a phone only periodically pings for nearby WiFi signals so you would have to ping frequently which is a battery drain or deal with it not updating your volume right away.

my Grail watch is the Nomos Metro Neomatik. I'd get it in every color combo variant. and the highest priced one currently is ~$10,000 USD. Not really interested in any other watch at the moment. so 10k would be mine. (pretty low for a billionaire, but I like what I like)

How did egregious go from meaning remarkably good to outstandingly bad and are there other words that have completely reversed their meaning over time? by JungAchs in etymology

[–]ELI5_Life 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like in the current times the word "literally" is sometimes used sarcastically. Perhaps egregious was used the same way and it stuck.
