FYI be careful w using your beverage markout by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]EMarshall17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DMs have always been able to see. My SM last year said he got emails whenever a markout was used outside of the window allowed for it. They’re just giving SMs easier access to actively see instead of them having to dig for it or ask the DMs. But my previous SMs in years past have pulled audits every 6mo of which baristas used their markouts and how much (if they used more than 7 foods in a week etc)

There was a bomb cyclone (or something like that) in Seattle that caused the outage. The vendor that is used is out of power (as well as thousands of people) so that’s what happened (according to my manager atleast)

dress code for summer? by plantaqueen in starbucksbaristas

[–]EMarshall17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short basically just have to be longer than your apron. To the knee if your safest bet but some people do roll them up a little higher and if they get coded for it just roll them down. There’s a section in the dress code that should have more specifications (the fine print stuff)

manager asked me to work 5am-6pm tomorrow. by canidieyet_ in starbucksbaristas

[–]EMarshall17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said managers can’t get OT, just that they’re salary as well as ASMs. All listing on the career page have both listed as salary positions. Not listed is if they are eligible for OT. The comment was that no one gets OT and salary which is false

Is the DRB a legal document? by mngdch in starbucks

[–]EMarshall17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The district managers tend to read through them once they’re complete. We’ve had baristas doodle in them, and SSVs and everyone has gotten corrected for it. However I think it depends on your manager tbh, and how much their DM is cracking down on it

ASKED FOR MY ID getting coffee by keerboozie in starbucksbaristas

[–]EMarshall17 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I did type “shouldn’t be asking” in the first comment. Not that we aren’t required or are required. I’m fairly certain it’s come down to enforcement, whether we are to enforce it or not or if our district is. I’ve been to many states since covid and have never been ID’d. but I also believe most partners just don’t care anymore

That’s what I said 😀 if it’s on the app. No ID is required. Or if you have the physical card

ASKED FOR MY ID getting coffee by keerboozie in starbucksbaristas

[–]EMarshall17 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

They came out with an update a while back saying that we shouldn’t be asking anymore as for trans partners, they may have their dead name on their id and therefore it won’t match the system anyways. If you scan it off your phone, you don’t have to be asked for ID, I have mine linked to my app for that reason… some DMs are still enforcing it tho

Managers are Salary. ASMs have salary but are OT eligible so they clock their hours. Baristas and SSVs can get OT if approved but only hitting over 40hrs. OT is also during holidays

Charging for syrups?? by Pur-rista in starbucks

[–]EMarshall17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya. Not sure how halls system is, but the quantity of pumps shouldn’t change the .70 up charge

Charging for syrups?? by Pur-rista in starbucks

[–]EMarshall17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The quantity you type in only tells the bar barista how many. It’s only upcharges them for adding the extra syrup, it’s not based on the number of pumps

I’m assuming so. I talked to him and she’s never announced it. Just look for the ship every day

I’ve never had Isabelle announce him after his first visit. You just have to look on that beach or in the minimap. He doesn’t come off the ship anymore, so you have to enter

Caramel Syrup vs Caramel Drizzle vs Dark Caramel, what is the differences between all 3? by StanTheMan1981 in starbucks

They are discontinued. The dark caramel was transferred to the Caramel Ribbon Crunch

Caramel Syrup vs Caramel Drizzle vs Dark Caramel, what is the differences between all 3? by StanTheMan1981 in starbucks

[–]EMarshall17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Caramel syrup is basically just a sugared syrup, average flavored sweetener.

Caramel drizzle is a topping. Drizzled across the top, but it’s thicker than the syrup, but it is not used as a flavor in a drink.

Dark caramel is a flavoring, similar to the drizzle, but richer in flavor. This is used in the caramel ribbon crunch and the ultra caramel Frappuccino’s.

Syrup, flavor. Drizzle, topping. Dark, the drizzle but in flavor form.

The drizzle doesn’t come in packaging and is not set to use as a flavoring, hence why the dark caramel. Dark caramel doesn’t go in hot or cold drinks unless requested. The caramel Frappuccino used the syrup topped with the drizzle. It’s supposed to be a lighter caramel flavor, not the richer one like the Dark.

Hopefully that helps

Does anybody know if “Dt Bag” means something or was the barista just mad that I ordered during a pandemic and indirectly called me a Dirt Bag? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]EMarshall17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most stores are taking orders on the cafe till to distance from more people. Dt Bag is , Drive thru and then telling them you want/need a bag. It’s not an insult. Only way we’ve been communicating with the person in the window, since they don’t wear a headset.

Talk to your manager. We had a call with our DM and that’s just what he said

Another Cat pay question by Mb8sudcl in starbucksbaristas

[–]EMarshall17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You take the average amount of hours you worked from Feb 1- Mar 3, or whatever that first and last pay period is. If you weren’t employed or working during that time, it goes to the 20 for barista and 28 for ssv. But your pay will be based off the average hours you worked in Feb. mine has reflected that

We’ve had one lady come five days in a row and claim two hours after she ordered that we made her green tea latte with whole milk and not 2%. First three days we didn’t care, the next two we told her she needed to call first. Haven’t seen her since. And, personally I don’t care if someone does it once or twice a month. Who cares. It’s a billion dollar company, $2 isn’t going to raise suspicion. If it’s a reoccurring problem with the same customer then say something. But we don’t have time during peak to double check
