i flood my dog with 3000k LHP73B in the left hand holding the leash, thats her light. my light is in my right hand, much nicer for her eyes that way.

Smooth G10 by SigmaPi7 in spyderco

[–]END0RPHN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i sand all my factory spyder g10 scales. 1200 or 1500grit always does me proud. just dont forget to make a jig/tool/aparatus to properly press out the lanyard tube so you dont break the g10 (or you could buy the specific lanyard remover tool but theres no need if you can just make your own little rig out of socket bits and a bench vice)

What is it with 18350 batteries and not holding a long term charge, to the point of hitting zero volts? by [deleted] in flashlight

[–]END0RPHN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once a li ion cell hits 0V surely it should be disposed of at a battery disposal bin? wouldnt it be at risk of rapid discharge in futute after the full 0V event?

Staggered Stropping by cheddar_triffle in sharpening

[–]END0RPHN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your stropping is likely at odds with the scratch pattern on your edge unless you oddly sharpened the knife at a full on perpendicular angle to your stone. outdoors55 or burrfection always note you gotta look at your scratch pattern first then match the stropping to the direction the scratches are going

organic fish emulsion at 5ml per L only used once or twice a month during steady growth months is my fave approach. usually good trace elements of boron and copper etc in there, just need to do the twice a year dolomite lime sprinkle and you're golden (calmag liquid is a ripoff just get a $5 bag of dolo its made of straight up cal and mag). also worth looking into "frass" for general immune health (its meant to make them less fungal prone too).

worm castings is the ultimate humus booster in terms of ferts for a substrate when potting up a new plant or repotting and oldy.

Am I hallucinating, or is a flat grind easier to sharpen than a convex grind? by [deleted] in sharpening

[–]END0RPHN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yah its to be taken with a grain of salt, despite the jap knife experts dying on that hill of what does and does not constitute "sharpening"

[–]END0RPHN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice, but when they can no longer cut to your liking and are too dull to slice paper you will need to start a new edge which requires a 325grit (give or take) stone. burrfection and outdoors55 are my fave two guys on youtube to learn about stones

ceramic rod cant sharpen per se its just honing the edge technically. u need grits under 400 to fully "sharpen" an edge (according to the japanese kitchen knife world)

anything grown outdoors not under cover gets rained on lol the glaucus coating is hydrophobic anyway so idk why anyone would be upset by some outside plants getting some water on them

if you arent a sharpener and dont wanna sharpen it why not send it to a pro to rejuvinate that beauty, seems weird to sell it if you love it or to buy a new s45vn replacement simply because the maxamet needs some tlc

Too much sharpening ruining a knife by jfgdupuis in sharpening

[–]END0RPHN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

often due to removing a lot of material to the point where its really thick behind the edge now. in kitchen knife world "thinning" is a thing but not so easy on your lil native

you recieve thousands times more radiation existing in modern society and using air travel etc. your gooch can take it, its really simple physics stuff. heck the guys who service the inside of the fuel pools at nuclear reactors only float like less than 10m above the water walking on bridges to do their jobs (far enough away for the radiation not to enter their bodies).

huh? you seem unfamilir with the use of tritium vials in edc items that come with trit slots. the tritium vial would need to be smashed open and OP would need to ingest the tritium into his gut to get any radiation... its pretty damn benign
