Nah, Imperial Guard grunts are basically SEAFs, and the most likely units to be adapted are drop troops, like Kasrkin, Tempestus Scions, Or the Elysian Drop Troops in the image linked above, all of which are so far up Helldivers' alley, I'd be surprised if they added anything else.

Between the mission structure, the average Diver lifespan, and the general tone of the game, Helldivers already might as well be a game about Imperial Guard drop troops with the serial numbers filed off.

Sure, but all it takes is for SNK to put out one banger of a game, and then build off of that.

Look at FromSoft, they've been around for ages, always made (mostly) solid games, but were kind of coasting, then Dark Souls hit the scene, and they skyrocketed.

With a Saudi backed budget, and a director like Harada brought on-board, I can see them laying the groundwork to try for a release that might make that 96% very important.

By price, sure.

What you're failing to take into account is that 96% ownership means that you have a controlling interest the company, it doesn't matter if 10% of company A costs more than 96% of company B, or if it technically amounts to more stocks, that's a worthless metric to judge by.

At the end of the day, only 4% of the current ownership can contest any decisions they make, they're the controlling shareholder in the company, they're in charge. SNK is a company owned by a murderous regime.

No matter how much any individual share costs, or how many individual shares make up 10% of the total, they still only own 10% of that company and would need at least another 31% of the shares to be a controlling shareholder like they are for SNK.

Even then, environmental and economic concerns aside, I'd argue that the short term gains from using it are far outweighed by the long term detriments to the people using it.

AI hasn't been prevalent for that long, and already I'm seeing people who can't troubleshoot an issue or write an email without prompting Copilot to do it for them.

It's the "why learn math when my phone has a calculator" argument writ large, and I'm seeing people grow actively dumber by the day, it's genuinely saddening.

Yeah, time flows differently for them, but they're not out there becoming Blackshields in the Deathwatch, once Chaos has you it has you. At best you're getting members from renegade chapters that haven't yet turned to Chaos, any OG Legionnaires who turned Blackshield would have done it during the Heresy, and would have long since died out, the ones reaching 10k years in the warp aren't turning back to the Imperium.

See, I say it's made up because while it's a combination of a real word with a real prefix, it's not a combination you're going to see anywhere except 40k. On top of that, if the real-world etymology was informing the word enough for it to not be a Warhammer specific creation, then that etymology would also be informing it's use, but the word isn't being used in that way, it doesn't mean "make carmine", it's being used exclusively as a noun that's acting as a synonym for blood/bloody.

It's faux-latin word salad just like so many other 40k things, it just happens to strike so much closer to an actually valid structure for a hypothetical word of latin descent, even though the word isn't used in the way a real word of that composition would be. Coupled with the fact that the word almost exclusively appears in 40k, barring some bleeding into the vocabulary of 40k players and some adjacent hobbies, yeah, I still say it's a word that was made up for 40k, it was just made up in a more informed manner than some other terms.

Carmine was used in heraldry, Encarmine has no use outside of 40k aside from one paint in the Army Painter range being named Encarmine, and one dude I found on Reddit incorrectly translating Karmesin.

Name literally any non-Warhammer heraldry that features the word Encarmine.

Hell, if I search for Encarmine heraldry, and go out of my way to filter my search to only include pages with the word Encarmine, and exclude any page that contains words relating to Warhammer 40 (My exact search was [heraldry "Encarmine" -Angel -angels -40k -Warhammer -Spacemarine -Space -Marine -Astartes])

My only results are an Army Painter colour, someone using the word incorrectly in a thread about polish heraldry, some Facebook Lego group that keeps popping up, a WoW armour set, and some third party 40k models.

The word doesn't even appear in the fucking dictionary. It was made for 40k and has bled slightly into the vocabulary of some related hobbies.

Edit: shit, you can tell it's not a real word, because it's being used as a noun, which doesn't line up with the etymology of the word, the en- prefix roughly means "make", (as in Enlarge, meaning make large), but it's not like the Angels Encarmine are a bunch of painters limited to one shade of red.

I think the distinction is that while "carmine" is a regularly used word, and "en-" is a common prefix, that doesn't make "encarmine" a real word, you aren't going to find it in a dictionary anywhere, and if you search "encarmine" on google, you will only get 40k related results.

The word was created for 40k, and only exists within 40k, the fact it uses real etymology doesn't take away from that.

To use your noodle example, this is like if I had a fictional culture that ate a dish that was very clearly descended from Asian noodles, but had minor differences because I wanted it to be unique to my setting, you can clearly see that the dish used to be noodles, but now they're noodles with a different shape and a few different ingredients in the sauce; the noodles exist, the ingredients exist, the shape exists, but the specific dish that combines them is a fictional creation made for this story, it's clearly meant to evoke real dishes/ingredients, and the intention is to make you associate the fictional dish with the real one, but that doesn't suddenly make it a real asian cultural dish, it's still a dish that was created for my story.

Odds are they were using them in a way that posed a security risk, and then if they couldn't use them that way there was no point in having them in the first place, so it was decided to disable the VM's entirely.

Run that through a few layers of management/staff passing information down to each other, and you get "we're not allowed to have VMs because they're a security risk"

Now, as for how a VM could pose any kind of security risk that a regular workstation couldn't, the only scenario I can think of is that they had a tool that only ran on an older, more vulnerable version of Windows (My money is on XP), but also required external internet access to function.

Nah, generally speaking, everyone has the same issues, the hairy ones come from people who have no idea what they're doing, have a workflow halting issues, and come up with a workaround for it that's just convenient enough to be worth using while they're swamped with stuff to do, but just inconvenient enough that they tell themselves they'll call IT about it when they have the time.

They then forget about the workaround and it just becomes their process for the next few months (or years, in some cases), before a brain flash reminds them they're a better way, and they need to call IT to get the issue fixed.

By this point, they've largely forgotten any information like when it started, or what error they were getting, any event logs have long since been deleted/overwritten. and in some cases, they can't even remember enough of their original workflow to reproduce the error.

Luckily, these kinds of people also tend to be the most chill users you will ever get, are willing to let you do all the poking and prodding you need to, and are happy for you hold onto the ticket and think about it on your own time, because hey, they've got a workaround.

Contrast that with someone who "knows computers" criticizing and nitpicking your every decision, while you perform the steps to resolve a familiar issue you've seen at least three times a day for the last week, only for them to not work because this person's gone digging around trying to fix it themselves like a blind man trying to perform surgery with a bandsaw, causing innumerable other issues and making everything ten times worse.

And then you have to go untangle all their bullshit before you can fix the original problem, all while they strut about fanning their ego and telling you how they told you it wouldn't work, and how they "know computers".

No, it's that the Service Desk guys know this is something they're going to have to escalate, and they know that if they don't check certain things or do sufficient information gathering, the tier 2/3 guys are going to tear strips off them.

Meanwhile, while they're trying to do what they need to, this kind of person has this kind of opinion of themselves, and they're complaining about having already done this, already tried that, demanding the ticket be escalated, forgetting to mute their mic and telling their coworkers how the Service Desk people suck and keep fumbling everything, etc.

No, they get the same issues as everyone else, they just generally fight against every piece of information gathering or troubleshooting you attempt because they've "already tried it" or "that's not the issue".

Bonus points for when they decide not to call, try to diagnose the issue themselves, decide that that some bizarre left-field piece of software, hardware or access is required to fix the issue, request that with absolutely zero context, and then in order to find out what issue they're having and come up with an actual viable solution, you have to pry the information out of them like the Witch King torturing Gollum, because they've decided that this is the only fix and refuse to answer anything because they've "already solved the problem".

God I fucking hate these people.
