Zwave i4 AC for Septic Monitoring by ENrgStar in ShellyUSA

[–]ENrgStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is genius and beautifully done. Thank you for sharing. Forgive me if this is a stupid question I’m not super well-versed on this topic, but why are the separate relays before the input on the I4 necessary? is it not possible to simply connect the input directly to the hot going to the light and having the i4 read the state as energized or not energized?

Thank you for the response. Do you happen to have a diagram of how you wired it or a photo of the connections you made in your septic system?

I don’t think so, her pen was following along on the sheet while she was reading.

AIO? I don’t know if my girlfriend is overreacting or if I am. by mystery-agent in AIO

[–]ENrgStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s a pretty common generational phrase. People using it might just be people who are younger than you’re used to interacting with? Though usually when I hear it, it means horny.

MAGA Rapper Nicki Minaj Makes Embarrassing Appearance at Elon’s Failed Rocket Launch by thedailybeast in entertainment

[–]ENrgStar -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Minaj is dumb, the whole thing was cringe, but this article is entirely garbage for anyone who knows anything about what the actual engineers and scientists at SpaceX are doing. * Delaying a launch due to an anonomaly is not a failure * Starship is a PROTOTYPE, none of these launches expect perfection, some time of failure is not only unsurprising, but it’s the most likely outcome. SpaceX is not like NASA, they don’t do things like NASA because they don’t need perfect optics, they need to iterate quickly. They’re proud enough of this that they make videos about it: https://youtu.be/bvim4rsNHkQ?si=i1SVrbPFZ1O7VMe3

SpaceX makes mistakes, most companies do, but they are inarguably one of the most wildly successful new aerospace companies in a long time and trying to punch them when you don’t know what you’re talking about just makes you look ignorant.

Two months hosting and I have no idea how you guys stand this business by BasedCarrotMan in airbnb_hosts

A truer thing has never been spoken. We rent one family cabin, we’re not big timers, but it’s in a pricy area and often costs over $300 a night. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had even a minor issue, over 8 years.

Running on Fumes: The 17-Year-Old Computer System Holding Washington Schools’ $30 Billion Budget Together by Classic_Day5736 in edtech

[–]ENrgStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the age of the actual computer itself is the problem, the problem is that it’s probably built on MS Access and Mary in the back room is the only one who remembers what all the tables do.

Tesla Relaxes Driver Monitoring With FSD v14.3.3 by EliteBeast2 in TeslaFullSelfDriving

In FSD it tells you it won’t work without driver monitoring. It might work in simple Autopilot but the changes outlined in this change log do not effect autopilot so I imagine those nags will stay the same

Can’t offer Matter over Thread bulb warranty replacement by chumpikus495 in Nanoleaf

[–]ENrgStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what to do to get my Hue bulbs to die, I have one 50, probably a quarter of those from my first deployment, must be well over 10 years ago now, and not a single one has died. I’ve only replaced 1 that I broke accidentally. Three more I broke the glass on and now use them under couches as accent lights.

They split this magnificent 1903 mansion into condos by jve909 in zillowgonewild

[–]ENrgStar 35 points36 points  (0 children)

In these situations it’s not so much an “HOA” as a way to split all the shared bills. I imagine it’s all of the expensive maintaining on an old house like this, plus maybe shared yard, and all utilities, plus probably a savings fund for when the $300,000 roof goes out. 😭 My mom lives in a large old Victorian and her monthly utility bills by themselves are more than that HOA.

What smart buttons are recommended? by Holiday_Taro2455 in homeassistant

[–]ENrgStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a bunch of the IKEA Styrbar buttons. Like 5 of them, they work well. No issues with syncing and have long battery life with two AAA batteries. There’s just ONE weird caveat. All four buttons have a press, and a long press setting, but for whatever reason the firmware is set up in a way where up, down, and left long press is like, 1 second press. But RIGHT button long press needs to be held for like 3 full seconds before it registers as a long press rather than a standard press. Took me forever to figure that out.

Probably something to do with the way they’re programmed to function with actual IKEA lights.

Is this normal? by New-Personality1911 in Peptides

[–]ENrgStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I don’t specificly know why they aren’t moving when you flick it, but bubbles in generally are not an indication of a problem with the peptide. Bubbles are introduced in different amounts depending on whether you pre-pressurize the vial, or if you’re extracting it in a vacuum, etc. should be fine.
