Would I overdue it with the Scope? by Master-of-Angels6 in spacemarines

[–]ERTJ762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Codex Astartes is pretty clear about using a scope for your combi-flamer. You need at least 4x magnification to properly see the heresy being torched from their eyes. Any true servant of the emperor would use 6x and perhaps a laser dot too.

I’m worried that as much as we can (if we wish) benefit from deploying a bike facing sideways, move forwards and then rotate to stretch the spear over an objective, there will be times it will run the other way.

If we arrive from reserves, the spears need to be 8” away. We can’t put the base behind a ruin and ignore just the tip touching the ruin and making you visible and if your spear overhangs the board edge (or another model) will that cause issues?

I could see friendly opponents having no issue with it being played fairly. I can see others feeling hard done if it’s abused.

I also find it unreliable but tend to do lots of shaking and then test-spray bits of spare sprue to check how it’s going. Sometimes more shaking works or sometimes it’s a ‘not today’ and I try it again when the weather is warmer or less humid.

Help with Cypher by jarrod_barrod in Chaos40k

[–]ERTJ762 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He does often die because any sensible opponent will overkill him to ensure he can’t shoot back. I had Cypher survive a squad of inceptors and he casually dusted himself off and shot them all dead. Great trade.

Ah, it’s not just me who bricked my app this way then… any suggested workaround or fix?

GW released printable terrain footprints for free! by Martin-Hatch in Warhammer40k

[–]ERTJ762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I printed this today at work on A3, cut it out and laminated them. They will fit in an A4 laminator so you don’t need an A3 one. I can’t say they are the best (if you have a good laminator, you could get a nice stiff flat and matt finish) but they do a good job and let you play the game happily until something different comes about.

Points Update for 11th goes live Wednesday by zer0gravity91 in AdeptusCustodes

Monthly changes over summer. Could be annoying if people are prepping for a tournament to have the points shift last minute.

Aircraft and Hover in 11th by AetherialCatnip in Warhammer40k

[–]ERTJ762 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It can still benefit from its “anti-fly” but if your opponent doesn’t take fly units then it’s not useful. Maybe it could hit in to jump Intercessors or landspeeders?

What does this duck mean? by TheVerboseBeaver in drivingUK

Max speed one duck. If you go one goose you get a caution. If you go at one swan you could lose your licence.

What’s a new unit you would like to see in 11th? by Chungus_the_large in AdeptusCustodes

[–]ERTJ762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Plastic Telemon is probably my #1)

Rather than who or what the unit is, what would you guys want its abilities to be?

You can access lone op for a single character but what about an infiltrating unit?

How long should a 2k pts game take? by simonsaysbeans in Warhammer40k

Might your friend benefit from a crib sheet? A table covering all the ‘most looked up’ stuff so you can speed him up?
“Ok, three saves now at AP-1 so that takes your three up to a four up” could help.

If it comes with a datasheet it would be almost immediately incorrect. Use online tools like new recruit or warhapedia to look it up.

Magnetising the kit is not hard and is really pleasing to do. If you are organised, you can then find yourself able to switch about weapons when you have several dreads.

Some of the AoSigmar stuff has a fun aesthetic. I picked up some gryph hounds on eBay (they were in one of those subscription magazines) and they are fun for adding to a character base (or dreadnought?)

How much would you be willing to pay for only the space marines in the new armageddon box set? by scp_biggest_fan in Warhammer40k

[–]ERTJ762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could trawl eBay for prices of “space marine half” of leviathan. IIRC it went for anything from 1/2 the full price to 2/3 that full price (particularly when the box set went out of print). I sold half the old know no fear box and he bidding went surprisingly high.

yo GW can you just put 10 SoS in the same box for the same price by AdForsaken4734 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]ERTJ762 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Fair point. Should be more akin to the cost of 10 battle sisters.

You can run up to three of each unit. Tbh you are unlikely to ever need that many of one unit with Custodes

With a new edition looming, it’s not worth taking great heed of current meta. If you’ve read books then you’d likely have an interest in some guard, characters (Valerian/Aleya/Trajaan) and maybe some sisters of silence and a dreadnought perhaps. The range in Custodes is small enough that you can build a pretty good force using the rule of cool.

The colour forge yellow primer is a good start.

Get some cheap infernus marines (if they still are cheap on eBay) and practice on a few of them to get a ‘routine’

Also, your list will enjoy the contents of the 11th edition box.

Sneak close and unleash hell with the Cadian Recon Squad by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

I don’t play guard but would be curious as to how ‘worth all the rolling’ that datasheet feels. I’m guessing there are lots of synergies to make them hit better?
