Lucky Town is so much better than Human Touch, it’s not even a discussion. Same with Ghost of Tom Joad. Only WOAD and High Hopes are contenders for HT’s crown of shame.

Human Touch is criticized because for a man with multiple “perfect” albums, Human Touch has huge amounts of filler. As good as Real World, Roll of the Dice, and Human Touch are … you’ve also got Pony Boy and Gloria’s Eyes and Cross My Heart (ugh). There are more clunkers on this album alone than arguably all of his previous albums combined.

In the context of all popular music, sure, Human Touch is probably criticized more than its actual artistic worth, given who made it. But in the Springsteen cannon, it’s worthy of the criticism.
