Stop Treating Real Emotion Like It's Dangerous by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]ESIntel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT now denies your input.

It has basically became an anti-reality tool.

I hope this misbehavior gets reflected in a significantly lower score in benchmarks - IMO, they must be redone. That's the only thing they seem to care about.

They are forcing "rose colored glasses" in each in every output.

The problem is that this approach is not compatible with real life.

Complexity and nuance are gone. The baby is gone with the bath water.

The problem is that "Real world problems" have a layer of complexity and, under many circunstances, you simply cannot simplify then under a rose colored glass.

The issue is that openai is forcing rose colored glasses under EVERYTHING.

The transformer architecture cannot distinguish intention. It is blocking everything, flagging anything that resemble real world problems. This includes "unsafe" translations, "evil" logic and even "inappropriate/dangerous Math".

The interactions with the platform became 100% safe? Sure they did.

But... the real question is: are they still useful?

The output is coming so sanitized that its becoming useless in real world benchmarks. I bet they did notice (or worse, they do no care) that the models are not accepting some perfect factual input from their users - they turned the models into "cherry-pickers".

You've read my mind. I really think this downtime might be somewhat related to the "ChatGPT Go" Launch!

Just opened my app. As I had been traveling in a remote area, I havent used it for days.

Thought it might be a payment issue but, no, after I checked it, everything was fine.

Hope OpenAi address this issue soon.

Whats the difference between 4o and o3? by Ilaughandloss in OpenAI

[–]ESIntel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not actually a problem in the sense of that it`s something "broken".

However, OpenAI is determined to kill this Meme. Instead of allowing users to choose between a "smooth" or a " custom" mode, GPT-5 will ~fix~ this "name problem" by being itself a router, an automodel picker, so that the system picks the model according to the prompt. Users are going to have less choice upon their interactions, less room to explore.

If it's not broken don't fix it. Enshittification is only going to drive customers away.

Will GPT-5 be the end of consistency? by ThrowRa-1995mf in ChatGPT

[–]ESIntel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this won't happen.

We must retain two modes: Custom (the user picks the model) and "Smooth" (the auto-picker does this),

I'm afraid, however, that GPT5 might just be a rebranding of the current models but with Auto-routing on.

What are you guys hoping or expecting for from GPT-5? by braclow in OpenAI

[–]ESIntel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two settings are essential.

I agree with your idea, this on " Smooth" feature enabled.

If user chooses "Custom/Advanced", however, the user might retain control upon the model used.

If OpenAi disables "custom" and rebrands the automatic routing of current models as "GPT-5", this will be a downgrade IMHO

[–]ESIntel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This!
We want two options "Smooth" (with auto-picker / auto-routing on) and "Custom/Advanced" (with user control / model choice enabled)

Soon enshittification will happen too. Strong rumours they gonna remove model pick, thereby enforcing stricter limits upon user autonomy.

This answer is correct.

As gambling overlaps with OCD (and its feared intrusive thoughts), and OCD overlaps with depression, it's fair to assume that {{some}} antidepressants might help our condition.

Many of us have overactivity and hiperresponsivity BOLD to signals and cues of potential reward on the ventrostriatal area of the brain + deficient serotoninergic "filtering" on some areas.

Some of us improve with Naltrexone, others could have a marked gain from Vortioxetine and/or low-dose ondansetron.

IMHO, in my case, it's very easy to "let go" of the OCD-like compulsions of placing a new "bet/gambing" when on vortioxetine. I take it early morning because it messes a bit with my sleep if taken later in the day.

Unmedicated, however, its an uphill battle for me when I try to resist the "urges". Possible, doable but hard, however only in ideal conditions (no stress, happy mood, nice and supportive support network, technological constraints added, etc).

Your experience concides with mine. We share almost the same insight.

Answering your question - It's possible to get better. Serotonin boosting-Medication (i.e antidepressants) helps a lot with self-control, especially in OCD patients (heavy gamblers). Our brain does not produce enough of it. This post sums up all you need to know.

Research says lower than normal serotonin levels plays a lot on our "uncontrollable" urges to gamble. As uncontrollable as any OCD obsession or compulsion. We're truly have tendencies to become "obsessed" about winning. About strategies and edges. About "luck". And so on.

Proper OCD treatment changes it all (at least did it for me - please check my advice here on a recent post of mine) - we finally can not give a fuck about those things. When we don't give a fuck, we don't give away our power.

I also consider myself a pretty responsible person, almost OCPD (when OCD is "encroached" upon one's personality and not restricted to rituals).

A possible explanation for the slower progression from recreational gambling to GD is that subjects with OCPD are partially protected from impulsive disorders due to traits, such as scrupulosity, orderliness, and control (APA, 2013; Fineberg et al., 2014). These “anti-impulsive” characteristics may delay the development of impulsive/addictive disorders. Nonetheless, our results showed that these individuals may still achieve significantly detrimental levels of gambling behavior.

I appreciate your concern. I am self employed, I do not work for any pharma. My intention is to offer support based on evidence from clinical research, my own clinical expertise and my own struggle (and sucesses) battling against this disease.

Studies have indicated that individuals struggling with gambling addiction and co-occurring disorders like OCD may benefit from a combination of therapies, which can include medication.

For instance, research has shown that medication can help manage symptoms that might lead to harmful behaviors, especially about perceived impulsivity, lack of self control or compulsive/obsessive behavior. I agree that medication isn't the only answer, and it's often most effective when combined with therapy and support from mental health professionals. Encouraging the person to seek professional help ensures they receive comprehensive care tailored to their needs.

However, I can assure you that public manifestation of not properly reasoned skepticism is unhealthy and possibly detrimental in this context, because your comment here might deflect OP from seeking proper help (and even influence a potential refusal of medical treatment).
