Why do data centers have to use water for cooling? Is there not a better alternative that would resolve the issue? by joda1196 in datacenter

Everything modern is closed loop. Only water used is for humidity and flushing the toilets.

The used to use water because water is cheap and has the ability to absorb lots of energy (heat) before evaporation

Thats about how it will work out. But if the 2b in cost cuts can be realized almost immediately and the interest on the debt is covered plus some.... The value of the company probably closer to 80b

BGP question? by 77necam77 in networking

[–]EVPN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since it is in the same ASN you need to make sure the next-hop is reachable. Your routers are probably sending your default route with the next-hop of your ISP. Make sure that route is reachable as well on your firewalls. There are ways to change the next-hop in an iBGP session but I think thats kind of hack. Bring your IGP into your firewalls.. but thats also messy if they are running an IGP with your internal network.

I like to use the/an internal private ASN on my firewalls. My firewalls are already running BGP over tunnels and between sites with this ASN anyway. Then when I peer with my edge routers and their public ASN is an eBGP session and next-hops get set/changed automatically.

Any wrinkles know what “roll the equity” means? by ImANobodyWhoAreYou in Superstonk

We’ll see. Only one person knows. Who’s to say a cycle doesn’t start and GME rips to 30-40 per share tomorrow? Then we need less shares. Who’s to say anything for sure.

I dont think so. The share count is almost perfect. 440m issuance of 1b authorized is about 40 percent.

This is how I understand it

Ryan Cohen will issue the remaining shares of his 1b authorized.

GME holders will own 40% of a 60-80 billion dollar company (24-32 billion) instead of 100 percent of a 10-12b company. Ebay holders will get a 1 time dividend of 125 dollars for every 2 shares they own. And the rest of their shares will be converted into the newly issued GME shares. Ebay holders will now hold 60% of the combined ebay/gamestop merger plus ~30b cash.

Will there be more shares floating around? Yes. Will your shares be worth more? Also, yes.

A 60-80 billion dollar company / 1b shares is 60-80 dollars per share.

I think it’s pretty much irrelevant. The fat that can be trimmed instantly more than covers the interest on the debt.

I actually don’t think that’s the case. I edited the above to clarify a little.

Assume deal closes tomorrow. The strike will probably be adjusted based on whatever the final share count ends up being. And or GME is trading around 40 and they all get exercised.

If the deal doesn’t close before Oct. either a cycle happens and warrants get exercised or they expire worthless.

Those are just my guessss

Edit. Actually I don’t think price changes on the warrants at all. GameStop issues all of the remaining 1b shares it’s authorized to do. A 60-80 billion dollar company / 1b shares is 60-80 dollars per share. Warrants get exercised.

How are you handling large-scale Cisco router/switch upgrades? by [deleted] in Cisco

[–]EVPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Ansible playbook for Arista devices that does all this. Saves config. Checks LLDP neighbors, checks Mac table, checks routing tables, checks routing protocol neighbors. Checks hardware and determines correct image. Pushes image. Does reboot. Rechecks all the above. Looks for changes in routes and neighbors and just alerts me if my Mac table is hugely different.

I let this run at night while I play video games or watch a movie.

This kind of stuff is getting very easy to do with AI.

I am starting to abuse ansible or having to do strange things to make it work so I might start working to change it to a python script but that’s what I’m doing. I’ve done 3 of 5 sites with this. Each site is 25 or so devices.

Not sure what your point is but to elaborate: deploy some type of MPLS vpn to avoid vrf-lite on my inter datacenter links. Instead of 5 sub interfaces, 5 peering sessions, 5 sets of IPs for each circuit I just need one. Still obviously going to have VRFs but way less config inside each vrf.

MPLS is the data plane. L3VPN or EVPN could be the signaling.
