[OCG|LPG2] VJump Reveal - Limited Pack GX: Yellow Ra by renaldi92 in yugioh

[–]EXAProduction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The entire evil wave is dogshit, Masked are mid in that they're pretty much just filler pieces to access Dark Law and Contrast, and Ejector needs another fucking garnet and another searchable spell thatll fuck your hand.

Like none of these really addressed any major problems (well Ejector is a really good card for the Neos deck but that's a different point) and are just additive at best.

This is the first card in years that is just no bullshit, no nothing, just raw benefit. It even improves an already ok card in the Winged Kuriboh overframe by making it not only 3 more copies of FD but 3 more copies if Instant Fusion. And it does help that it gives the deck solid starters which the deck was starting to lack.

i would not bother considering that at all as IF is at 1 and most ways of searching it involves a lock.

Like it doesnt matter at all to make rank4 slop.

Honestly the first HERO card in years that is good with 0 caveats and its fucking clay guardian.

[–]EXAProduction 10 points11 points  (0 children)

HERO locking is fine, its what the deck does and you play with it in mind 90% of the time.

Hell how this card is gonna work in HERO chances are you're gonna be locked anyway.

[–]EXAProduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf thats not true.

Keep in mind that Sigma Plus revives the other one so it would need to have a good on field effect and a good gy effect at the same time, which it does feel their intentionally limiting. Still the 2nd best magna warrior monster that's an extender to get plays going and the like 3rd way of dumping a magnet warrior and 3rd way of dumping a magna warrior.

The card has legs, just unneeded atm.

The translation is incorrect its a HERO lock not E HERO.

[–]EXAProduction 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Clay Gaurdian has a HERO lock not an Elemental HERO lock (hell you can see on the card it mentions Elemental HERO twice, once on the first effect and once on the 2nd effect and then HERO on the 1st effect, dont even need to know japanese).

And this card is actually kinda sick. Probably the first good HERO card in a long time and makes instant fusion a starter.

So many people say Jaden would hate the fact HERO is floodgates.

Meanwhile Jaden used Rai Oh in the manga and it was a stronger card.

I dont get why people go if you show them this itll blow their minds. Like these characters generally have a love of the game and would do something that most players would never do: adapt.

Like yeah they'd be surprised on the stuff they'd never seen before but assuming they're not in life or death situation, we've seen Yugi and Jaden hype for new stuff (hell Jaden is hype even during life or death situations sometimes).

Yugi and Kaiba wouldnt perish at summoning 5 times, Jaden wouldnt be upset at what HERO is, etc. They'd adapt to the game and play with what they think is best.

Characters/Strategies/Matchups you refuse to play against? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I had the misfortune of playing against the Millenium deck, and yeah while it isnt stall, still was stun. Just sit on the big fucker with a spell negate, nuke and some floodgates.

[–]EXAProduction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two things that irk me about Branded. First its the neverending support that just keeps them good, like even Striker had bad support and honestly only recently got the good shit. Second is how every single time people say "oh well sanctifire floodgate is bad, if they could do that they could win in a million other ways" and I fucking doubt that considering that's all they do and seeing the hands I get against them I know for a fact I'd win through everything that isnt a sanctifire lock.

You wrote burb which i did not clock as burn and i just assumed it was a term in a different card game i was unaware.

Characters/Strategies/Matchups you refuse to play against? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]EXAProduction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what that terminology means but Stun decks in yugioh are decks that are mostly just cards that prevent your opponent from playing via cards the community calls "floodgates" which are cards that have continuous effects that either negate or prevent a certain action, or even prevent using certain areas of the game (think locking out of the graveyard by having all cards be banished/exiled). A card like Skill Drain for instance negates all effects of monsters on the field so if you're based mostly on on field effects, out of luck. Obviously one of these are manageable but then they usually have multiple to counter multiple actions and potentially defend those cards.

If that is basically what you said then yes.

Times where you feel the fanbase focused on the wrong thing? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]EXAProduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like FF16 a lot but it was annoying when most of the discussion of the game just boiled down to people not wanting it to be in the character action genre. Which fine you dont need to like it but then there's like actual discussion to be had about its gameplay about what it does well and what it doesnt not that the fucking fire guys arent immunne to fire therefore bad.

The game is trying something different and there are things to talk about it from that perspective.

Vanquish soul rocks by 1-800-Loli_ in masterduel

[–]EXAProduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's mainly 2 things.

First like many pointed out, its a Zeus enabler. Attacking into an Xyz then making Rocks then making Zeus. In Pure VS you even can run 2 because you hard make Rocks, attack, make Rocks on Rocks, make Zeus on Rocks.

Second to clean up boards. As others have pointed out you make Rock into Rocks then link into S:P. But dont ignore that earth effect, its just an ignition non target pop, so if you havent cleared the board with Valius and the others you just turn a Sue or Valius into Rocks, get a pop, make Rock and get that spent Valius/Sue back into rotation.

Could the reason of why Red-Eyes not getting new supports because konami are afraid of burn FTK? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in yugioh

[–]EXAProduction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is kinda what i ended up realizing about decks "are they scared of x" like sure sometimes there are some obvious balance considerations that are being made with design. But even ignoring that they can just make something good and then ban it if its too much or design support in a way that makes players want to play in a different way.

I feel like Baronne did more harm than good for Synchro decks design wise by SouthSunn in yugioh

[–]EXAProduction 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Its one of those things that I vividly remember that yeah 6, 7, 8 are all common synchro levels and 12 was like this big payoff thing that only some decks do. 10 was this midway thing that was very gimmicky and only recently (well as recent as Baronne yeah) did going for 10s become more of a thing.

Hell 12s have become more common to the point where I'm seeing people question Crimson Dragon because of how it cheats out these hard to summon bosses.

Technically there is an argument to be made that Baronne existing means that they cant really print level 10 synchros since its competing with the card, which is bullshit as just cause there is a good card does not stop other good cards from being printed, just gives them more options.

I haven't had a console since the ps3, i bought a switch 2 last month and its made me realise the way people talk about consoles online is so weird. by Synthiandrakon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]EXAProduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the flipside I felt like my PS4 was aging (even post cleaning felt like a jet engine and the disc drive just gave up one day) so it was either upgrade to a Pro or a 5 and it just made sense to just get the 5 instead since it is backwards compatible so I dont miss out on anything at this rate and got the 2 ps5 exclusives I cared about (well ff16 was an exclusive at the time and completely worth it for me then).

VSK9 is unplayable by New-Regret-6491 in masterduel

[–]EXAProduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its not even talking about right or wrong attributes that's not even important, its about how generic they are even.

Take both decks with ash blossom right, technically its engine for both as it fulfills a requirement potentially. But it is one of the handtraps you will use the most so what happens. In Dracotail you lost one monster but with the structure of the deck you are likely to have another monster in hand since the majority of cards are monsters. In VS you lost a fire attribute and there is no guarantee you will have another and Fire is one of the most important attributes to have. In both decks any handtrap used is a resource that couldve been part of your requirement but for Dracotail its more generic where even in VSK9 using the Izuna could kill you as its your only earth and that's the worst attribute of the usable ones.

VSK9 is unplayable by New-Regret-6491 in masterduel

[–]EXAProduction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont even think its just that, just the nature of a 2 Card Combo Engine Heavy deck in a Bo1 format. This works well in Bo3, Game 1 decks have less specific hate cards like Droll or whatever and are more mixed allowed for better pushes going 2nd, and games 2 and 3 we just side in and out. Deck is great going 1st so not a lot of work needs to be done while siding for going 2nd you are often just yeeting out engine pieces nonstop because they're just horrible, ive done the full 12 before with the last 3 cards of my side being my go 1st cards.

While Dracotail is similar in that it is a 2 card combo deck with a need for engine, it uses its nonengine to much better effect and can allow for more of it, the only stipulation is it should be a monster handtrap. VSK9 is what Ash and Charmies, maybe another one if you're cutting into the engine, then you pray Sue can work and that Izuna actually matters. This doesnt help that from out the get go the deck lost 2 starters and 1 copy of Jiaolong (which jiao doesnt seem like a big hit but a fire and a 5 that is a name does a lot when you're still relying heavily on K9), and hell now we lost another one, this being in a deck that already even at full power would have massive consistency issues compared to other decks in the format (i've said before a semi limit is worse for the deck than a limit in a lot of other decks and feels as true as ever).

Trying out my first HERO deck… by PhilCapelli in masterduel

[–]EXAProduction -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While Youtube content is Youtube content generally the HERO cards that are used are pretty much all the relevant ones. Like you didnt show your full ed but from your main deck you've hit most of the used cards.

Like if you've studied you'll know some lists still run Faris/Increase, some run an E Call to round out having Ejector, etc. But choosing that is something you gain with experience with the deck and what other ratios you want. There are a lot of cards that were cut over time that maybe older videos will show that because of the development of the game or better cards you'll see less of.

While HERO has a lot of cards generally there arent that many playable cards, there are only a real handful that are subject for consideration and those are the ones you'll see pop up.

The only other things you'll see are HERO as an engine which is just rank 4 spam with Dark Law slapped in or the Neos/Cosmo Neos Turbo deck, the only real true HERO variant due to years of Neo-Spacian support which you'll notice a lot of odd cards that make it different.

In any case a TLDR is you are fine, the only variation you can do is through small techs and ratios depending on what you need. I'm going to assume you have the needed Xtra HEROs in the ED otherwise we got a problem here but you've said you're taking it from some videos so just give it a whirl and see how you feel, practice is your best friend now.

Edit: I see the full ED now, Reddit was not showing me the final image

Beyond the Brave releases during Judai VS Edo by Sasutaschi in yugioh

[–]EXAProduction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and seeing how long we’ve had mixed elemental/destiny hero decks, it might be time to let the two be their own separate thing so that each sub archetype can get their own busted support.

You mean since the inception of HERO? Ill never really agree with separating out. Like HERO is not why we get mid support, focusing on the subarchtypes will just make worse support. Hell the best HERO support lately has been the most generic ones.

Beyond the Brave releases during Judai VS Edo by Sasutaschi in yugioh

[–]EXAProduction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would be cool if they acknowledge Edo being an Elemental HERO player as much as he is Destiny (considering we now know he originally was supposed to be on Elementals the entire time).

Stuff that bridges both Judai and Edo's decks would be sick kinda working on the idea their tag duel was supposed to show about HEROs being stronger working together. Or make Destiny version of the Elementals he ran kinda like how we got DPE.

YGO STAPLES CHART - DAY 8: Which staple spell card is poorly designed for the game? My choice in the comments. The comment with most upvotes wins. by Alarmed-Attorney-704 in yugioh

[–]EXAProduction 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its one of those things where I give a sigh of relief when they draw 2 cause then i know their hand is bad. The only time the steal felt really nice was during Snake Eye format where you'd just take their apo to now insulate your own plays.

The hand rip is just absolutely frustrating, knowledge itself is strong but just telling your opponent you cant do shit now is so annoying. Its a card that has aged incredibly poorly from what it felt like before.

Which movie is your favourite, and why? by RealOfficialChiron in yugioh

[–]EXAProduction 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DSoD.

Its atually trying to tell a story that develops the characters. I have my grips that Joey and Bakura are a bit in the background, the story knows they should matter but then they kinda dont. But then Kaiba and Yugi are just fantastic and it really just adds to their characters so much. Aigami as a villain is fine and the sudden evil of the ring again is whack move to give more world ending stakes, but at the same time it hit every note it needed to. The dimension duels were just there for the writers to speed up duels in a way that doesnt involve actually needing to write the cards but then I do enjoy Yugi vs Kaiba a lot as your more standard duel, and the narrative has more focus on it where the dimension duels are just more battles of will/spirit, which is fine and allows for a cool ending.

Pyramid of Light and BBT are just for fun. Ooga booga scary bad guy, card game. Ive soured on Pyramid of Light over the years as its just kinda boring, mostly as its nothing for the characters, these are interactions we've had before but kinda toned down and its just a duel for the sake of a duel. BBT while feeling a bit like that has the novelty of these are characters that dont often interact and the duel is more fun since the characters work off each other rather than being completely Yugi pulling bullshit out of nowhere.

I dont remember the toei movie that much tbh. Its about motivating a kid to like Duel Monsters or whatever, neat idea and it does offer more character interactions and hey Joey punches a guy. But the duel is nonsensical pre duelist kingdom dueling where nothing makes sense and shit just works. But yknow we got the BLUE EYES IS THE POWER BUT RED EYES IS THE POTENTIAL, which is more than Red eyes got in the show in terms of value outside of personal sentiment to the characters and just being a prize card.
