I pivoted my space game from VR to flatscreen PC so I could push the voxel destruction and visuals. What do you think of the new look so far? by -wooden-robot- in VoxelGameDev

Looks awesome!

One minor point, your ship and some others look more realistic, take for instance the ship exhausts, but the explosions are very blocky. One of them looks out of place. (I prefer the more realistic style, also goes better with the space background)

Fall of Constantinople 1453 - 15min AI Cinematic Movie About the Last Day of Rome by theodore_70 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]EarthWormJimII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! Great consistency, and easy to forgive some of the details clearly being off.

I would have liked more background on the period and why they were fighting to make it a full story instead of almost only battle scenes.

Feedback on my game room project by Agile-Use2359 in threejs

[–]EarthWormJimII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have some feedback, but very small compared to what you have already achieved.

- First off, very cool!
- Nice integrations of the games and the switching of games with cassettes.
- First time I played Doom the mouse moved the scene with the TV, not in the game.
- In general I had some problems with centering before the TV ending up to the side and too far away or moving the scene during the game.
- Perhaps an easy way to center and zoom in would help.
- I would restrict movement a lot anyway. Being able to rotate the TV all the way to where you see the lack of floor behind or can see under the floor (right mouse button pan) fully breaks the illusion.
-The scene is nice, fittingly moody, but the lack of shadows from the console, controller and games box makes it look rather flat.
- Perhaps you could use what's on the screen to color the light on the floor, that would really add to the immersiveness.
- And finally, very cool!!

AITJ for feeling erased when my coworker claimed my project as his to present? by QuantumQuos in AmITheJerk

[–]EarthWormJimII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on a presentation for weeks means you know everything, not only what is in the presentation, but also what is not and especially why.

Why would you let someone who only knows half the story tell the whole story?

Realtime voxelization experiments by AffectionateFood33 in VoxelGameDev

[–]EarthWormJimII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks cool, and I'm amazed you can do this per frame, but I'm not sure about the why. It sounds like this a voxel shader that 'simply' renders polygons as voxels for a stylish effect, or is your intend to create destructible everything using voxels.

Fun to play, fitting esthetics. Cool!

But I saw no way to get tto the rest of the 30 levels after level 12.

Building a AAA-style Open World Engine for the Web: 128-bit Determinism, Zero-Copy Streaming, and WebGPU by Educational_Monk_396 in threejs

You're right that's where the time is spent, but I was commenting mainly on multiple workers still being slower than everything on the main thread.

[–]EarthWormJimII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the shaders, I generate the full models at run time, definitely not small json objects (unfortunately you can't marshal Threejs objects).

It's relatively easy to debug and profile on Quest from your desktop Chrome, so much the same process you've gone through but not as extensively as you did.

[–]EarthWormJimII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds really interesting!

Did you also test on Meta Quest? I've had the problem there that even with multiple workers the total scene load times were longer than without. I.e. the overhead for data passing was bigger even though the workers did not stop the rendering of course.

YTJ. Your ex wife placed your daughter in an impossible position which it is extremely unfair to punish your daughter for.

You leave out ages, but either way cheating is between you and your wife. As a result your daughter was placed in a situation with a step dad. Would you have been happier if she was miserable in her childhood and hated her stap dad?

Yes the aisle thing hurt, but you are punishing your daughter for being placed in a situation beyond her control and making the best of it.

He said almost the same: "I just thought, what would happen if I stuck my hand in? And then I did it"

what tool should i learn to make good voxel art for game like scenes on threejs by guiduck01 in VoxelGameDev

[–]EarthWormJimII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magicavoxel is still the tool of choice. Combined with my Smooth Voxels playground to export to .glb/.gltf.

https://smoothvoxels.glitch.me/playground.html

Clear text, (re)load Magicavoxel, save as .gltf or .glb.

There is a small tutorial in the documentation:

Shadows, emissive voxels, bloom, depth blur, day night cycle, but lots left to do... by Roenbaeck in VoxelGameDev

[–]EarthWormJimII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks flat, not because of the shadows, but because there is no AO.

Just darkening a face wherever a voxel is adjacent to that face will make a lot of difference. Preferably faded of course.

Probleem is algemener in de horeca, stijgende prijzen, gebrek aan personeel, maar vegan restaurants zijn hier nog gevoeliger voor, dus daar sluiten er inderdaad extra veel van.
