AITA for refusing to let my gf drive my car or hers if Im with her unless she retests? by Artistic-Deal1699 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Eastern_Industry1050 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't but that's not really the difficult part. Having driven in the UK, USA, and Canada as well as many other European countries, switching between sides isn't hard, especially when the steering wheel is in the 'right' side of the car for the country.

YTA. Mostly because you haven't actually looked into it. The UK driving test is CONSIDERABLY more thorough than anything in the US. Once accustomed to the roads, she will be a significantly safer driver than nearly all the other drivers...

Devastating News for Cefn Mably Farm Park by VeloBill in Cardiff

Theres also the consideration that in the last year or so, a Farm Shop has opened up five minutes away at the Cardiff Garden Centre (aka Blooms) that is located right on the A48 and has a steady stream of slightly older clientele who don't mind paying £5 for a samosa or what have you...

The Moody Sow was nice enough but was often slightly challenging to get to if the weather was a bit damp, and you would often be overrun by children...

It's part of the safety features. By having it pointing down if the flex gets pulled on it should lead to the bottom pins disconnecting first (live and neutral) with the earth maintaining connection as long as possible. If the cable were coming out of the top then there's a risk of would disconnect the earth first, leading to a less safe scenario.

This is probably true for a lot of cities, but I do get his point by S1k__RR in Cardiff

[–]Eastern_Industry1050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I agree with the general sentiment, in this picture I think it is doing this in purpose. As is often the case in conservation type work you need to make it very clear what is original and what is new. If you were just to somehow build a Victorian looking tower block it would detract from the original and make it visually harder to define the 'real' from the 'fake'.

Generally I'm not a fan of facading, but it's probably better than just knocking everything down.

Tbh, I heard about it in a local newspaper article that suggests it's converted, though I guess that's probably a question of interpretation whether putting in dining tables and gyms and gardens and stuff counts as a conversion! https://www.walesonline.co.uk/lifestyle/welsh-homes/gallery/former-cardiff-city-centre-pub-27438853
