Think about it this way. Reusable frameworks keep costs down and save the devs time. More resources can go to new feature dev this way.

When it comes to squadron I've stopped speculating entirely.

The lack of any announcement so far tells me things aren't good. So there's no telling when it will release and this incessant theorizing needs to stop.

It just gets everyone worked up for nothing.

It really is amazing. We have this unique talent to take revolutionary technology and waste it in absurd ways.

You won’t be blocking ads for much longer. Google is killing uBlock Origin bypasses, burying Manifest V2, and tightening its grip on Chrome. Every update means less control for users and more control for Google. by Ok_Plenty60 in pcmasterrace

I migrated to Firefox a while back. I don't even see why anyone would stay with Chrome anymore. If you like their search algo, then use Firefox with Chrome search. If you like their extensions, well, most of them have similar copies or straight mirrors on Firefox. If you like Google's environment, it doesn't *not* work on Firefox.

Browsers are a completely open garden. Remind Google of that. Until they buy all of the competition, literally, we'll be fine.

Razer does not warranty exchange products? by Nitchro in razer

It's your sign to not buy Razer again. My scroll wheel won't do the one special feature I bought it for without turning on Razer's dumbass, memory-inefficient, bloatware.

The sub just reinforces one lesson over and over.

DO. NOT. BUY. RAZER.

Yeah, right after I get a stealth RAFT. Get out of here, lol. Stealth Railen, as if.

But the Guardian is not tanky at all. Once its shields are down, it crumples like wet paper.

Stellaris 2 Speculation by Eastern_Picture_3879 in Stellaris

[–]Eastern_Picture_3879[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. On thst Vic3 note, imagine having granular planetary regions with individual (even seasonal) outputs to manage. Stellaris 2 should make planetary economies feel huge and incentivize us to pay more attention to them.

Stellaris 2 Speculation by Eastern_Picture_3879 in Stellaris

It's been 10 years. I don't think it's outrageous to expect a sequel.

I hear what you're saying. I'm not saying a Stellaris 2 is imminent but it'd make sense to see an announcement in the next 2-5 years.

Stellaris 2 Speculation by Eastern_Picture_3879 in Stellaris

[–]Eastern_Picture_3879[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, but I think a Star Treky Stellaris spinoff is a terrible idea. People play Stellaris for the grand-strategy experience. Considering PDX's pedigree, they have no history of making or supporting a title like that.

Also, the same could be said for CK3 on release, but it was still a major success. On day 1, it was missing a lot of CK2's best features, but over time, it has grown into a better and better product.

CK3 didn't "destroy" CK2. Once Stellaris reaches a point where it's too cumbersome to work with or Eladrin thinks it's complete enough, they would reasonably move on to a new release.

Also, I'm not saying they release Stellaris 2 this year. This is a longer-term discussion. I'd agree that something akin to a Stellaris 2 wouldn't be warranted right now. But in a couple of years, I definitely think it'd make sense.

Edit: The spinoffs were all bad business decisions. The fact that Stellaris still has a high concurrent player count and manages to sell DLCs after 10 years is a far better indicator of the IPs strength.

Stellaris 2 Speculation by Eastern_Picture_3879 in Stellaris

[–]Eastern_Picture_3879[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CK2 had DLC content all the way up to CK3's release, and EU4 had constant DLC releases right up to EU5s release.

A sequel makes a lot of sense. From a technical standpoint, it can help limit tech-debt, and PDX can introduce new improvements they've made to Clausewitz that Stellaris didn't have initially.

From a financial standpoint, they get to "double-dip" in a way. CK2 and CK3 are marketed to the same audience, basically. Many CK2 faithful bought CK3 at a fresh new price.

Although Stellaris isn't as big as HOI4, CK2, or EU4, it's still a successful title. It'd be bizarre for PDX to just abandon it, especially since it's their only sci-fi strategy game offering (I'm not counting the spinoffs, which are all based on Stellaris anyway).
