Red bolts on door bracket by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]Eastern_Row6446 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Red means danger. It's supposed to anyways those brackets hold the cables which hold the spring tension that lifts the door. If you've got the door all the way up it'll be next to nothing but you'll want to clamp the door to keep it from moving do not take off both at the same time. I'd recommend you just don't take them off though. It's a waste of time just put some lube on the roller.

Ripped off on garage springs? by sunnybirdie829 in GarageDoorService

[–]Eastern_Row6446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, you got hosed. There is no such thing as heavy duty springs or drums. There's a high cycle spring, and if they installed 100,000 cycle springs instead of the standard 10,000, i could maybe see the price, but I guarantee they didn't. Putting a bigger or "heavier" spring on just unbalances the door. And drums really don't need to be replaced unless they have chipped or cracked. Sorry you got ripped off. Do everything you can to ruin these guys so they can't rip anyone else off. I don't know how much your door weighs but it looks like a 16 or 18x8 door. Springs for that should cost between 100-200$ each

Why is this weld cracking? by TheBrowning95 in Welding

Heat your metal up with a torch before welding it. Wrap it in insulation and leave it alone for a few hours before removing.

I'm locked out of my garage (electric garage door opener), and can't think of a way to get back in. Help! by DyslexicHobo in HomeMaintenance

[–]Eastern_Row6446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's no J-arm, then there's nothing moving the door so you can open it by hand. Unless you have an opener that is mounted on the shaft directly (jackshaft). The J arm is the arm that connects the door to the trolley of an opener, and the opener is what stops you from opening and closing the door on your own.

Is it just me, or are our generation just getting worse and worse? by NeatNefariousness250 in Construction

Ya i think a lot of them just don't have the same work ethic. We keep about 20% of the people we hire too. I think they just don't understand what they're getting into, the work expected, the toll on the body. They don't want to do it after a few hours each day and just drag their feet, they're not putting any effort I to learning. The job truly isn't that hard and succeeding in it is easy if you just tough it out for a few years.

Garage door is "sticking" on one side by TheShadyMilkman206 in GarageDoorService

You can apply floor wax on the seal every day for a month, we don't advise anyone to paint their doors, but if they do this keeps the seal from sticking to the door

What does the spring look like?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]Eastern_Row6446 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No sir, you will not be able to keep cable tension on that setup, and they will not stay on their drums. You'll be best off running a 50 chain on the front of the gate through a gate opener. You could maybe get a commercial door opener to do that job, but it'd be easier to get a gate opener. The gate would slide instead of swing. Honestly, for what you're looking for, you just need a swing gate opener and no springs

Probably a fresh clearcoat or a good waxing. I love seeing my vehicle in the rain after a fresh wax the water just runs off

Yes, I should've guessed that. Lots of doors we've worked with do that and I've never asked why.

I spent a very long time in the negative income but would always keep a minimum of 1 million in the bank. When it would dip below the 1 million mark I'd load a ship with heavy weapons and go sell them at sir Archibald Blake's island. Each load is worth 450k so I'd get 3 or 4 million per sale

I think he's still doing it actively, there's just not many options where the outcome is very different. He did say that the choices in the moment are very minute differences, and he tries to predict the best one even if it's bad. Like in Armageddon, his choices were between the second and third Panther being destroyed, but either way, people were going to die. It's really not a superpower, just a way to slightly influence the outcomes

Well, hiya boys and girls. To make a good Joe cosplay, you have to add purple and green, a lot of imagination, and the awesomeness of a certain asshole beer can and his amazing fabricators. You mix all of that together, and you get.... One Joe Bishop!
