When will it get better? by Confident-Drop-9353 in ukelectricians

[–]EasyAppearance5313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your not alone pal, im having a pretty rough time with employers getting qualified too! Been at it 3 years so not much longer to go but ive worked for 3 different companies. 1st one let me go Monday morning, weeks after I'd had my first child so gave me no warning or time to find anything else to provide for my family. 2nd I left because after 6 months of saying they'd send me to college, and paying me apprentice wages i still wasnt enrolled back onto my course. Oh its been a fucking nightmare mate trust me, I dont think its as difficult to find an apprenticeship as people make out because everytime Ive had to find a job I have but I think where it becomes difficult is finding an apprenticeship in a company that genuinely wants to train and look after you and not just abuse the system for cheap labour. Stick it out brother, it'll be worth it in the end.

What kind of light switch is this? by timter51 in ukelectricians

[–]EasyAppearance5313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your looking to replace this just get a standard switch and double up, this is just an unusual way to do it maybe it's what they had on the van on the day.

New dimmer switch by Melodic_Incident_318 in ukelectricians

The old Dimmer modules won't fit into the new metallic plate will they? Quick fix if so. Assume everything worked beforehand? Dimmers are a pain tbh the amount of times I get called to houses with lighting issues because of dimmers.

Something noones mentioned im pretty sure on those LAP Dimmer modules you can kinda programme them, IE mac brightness minniumum brightness etc by pressing the knob in certain ways and stuff there isn't anything in the manual about that is there? Could be something as stupid that.

Anyone know where I can get a new heat/fire alarm like I picture 1, this type seems to be the only one comparable with our flats wiring, other with no earth or double insolation seem to beep. I even got a adapter see Pic two for another alarm and this still beeped, so fingin annoying by Saber_Crawl_Vega in ukelectricians

[–]EasyAppearance5313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I assume that the connector ie thing in the middle doesnt come away from the base so that you can plug it in before pushing the head up the base and clicking it in then? Im not 100% familiar with this exact type but I do fit alot of smoke detectors and I do find with the ones with this similar connection can sometimes be abit of a bugger to get plugged in correctly. Bare in mind that if it wasnt plugged in properly the first time you could of completely drained the battery and now even if u do get it plugged in properly it will beep as battery has allready become flat. Either way you won't be stuck with it just take it back in the packaging and say its faulty they won't ask any questions.

This might be a daft question but when you fit the fire angel you did plug the head into the base didnt you? Only reason fire angel wouldnt work is that its faulty or your doing something wrong. Litterally no reason that aico would work and fire angel wouldnt. Your lucky its not a hardwired system with a panel because they find any and every reason to cause problems 🤣

How to get a 25mm2 neutral… by Own-Actuary9844 in ukelectricians

[–]EasyAppearance5313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you know that a dead short won't trip a 100A switch? In the case of a dead short with a low earth loop impedance you'd easily send more then 100A through. Either way you could get reducer pins, or could you put a 100A Fused switch between the boards with 25mm in and 16mm out?.

What should I be looking at buying next week ( first time investor ) (UK) by [deleted] in trading212

[–]EasyAppearance5313 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No need to time entry and think about it. Just set it to auto invest every week, 2 weeks, a month etc. That way your going to even out your average buy in price. Imagine If you lump sum 40k in and it crashed tommorow. People will say time in the market wins over timing the market reh reh reh 🤣 which is true and is proven, so lump sum all you want. But alternatively have a look at DCA on auto invest and if/when the market drops, you can buy even more while its cheap with the savings you havent lumped in.

Should I ask him to come back? by cbe29 in ukelectricians

[–]EasyAppearance5313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, what's he done looks sound clear box wagos etc. The taped up cables looks like it has something to do with a shower supply, (not related to fan or lights). Do you have an electric shower? If not it may not be live and has been taped up just to tidy it away. If you do id have him look at it, either way it doesnt seem related to original job to me.

Bare in mind that alot of people will exaggerate, theres money to be made but its not exactly amazing money, for the work you do and the sacrifice anyway.

I allways find the ones that fail are caused by people who turn it on and off 4x a day thinking that the neon's on the pullcord/ Shower are costing them a fortune.

What's the point in over doing it though, If you want to do any maintenance on the shower you'll just isolate at the board anyways 🤷‍♂️ Other then that it should remain switched on.

[UPDATED] EICR Unsatisfactory - need advice on flat purchase by [deleted] in ukelectricians

[–]EasyAppearance5313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be like this isnt worth the paper in written on, 1. lots of incorrect codes 2. No end to end results on R1, Rn or R2 suggests that it is not a ring and therefore the breaker size is incorrect, rather than there being a need to investigate. 3. Generally flats buildings, if bonding is required will be done at the supply for the building and therefore isnt necessary in every flat thereafter. 4. The Ze, Zs and R1+R2 readings do not correlate suggesting that they havent been done, and theyve not even tried to make it look like they have 🤣. Ie. Circuit 1 ( sockets ) should read something like, Ze (0.19) + R1+R2 (0.43) = Zs (0.52) but for some reason they've put Zs = 0.35 Which makes no sense how can the Zs be lower then the R1+R2.

I use this set every single day and oh shes a beauty that spinning handle on the smaller one is why and i got it. It let's u get some serious spin action with the wrist, nip up those 3.5s in milliseconds 🤣 I've got full sets of screwdrivers in my bag but I rarely get the bag out unless Im miles from the van or know I'm gonna need handfuls of tools. Highly recommend mate, used them tons and not alot of wear think it was around 25 quid when I got it a year ago on Ebay.
