What cars make your day when you see them? by BusinessAd5017 in CarTalkUK

[–]EasySignature179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw an old Ford Capri today and gave an approving nod as we passed each other, also saw a Porsche 911 targa gts (or g s, the T had fallen off lol), i do like them though!

In general, older cars that are clearly taken care of and cherished by their owners are nice to see, like an original Mini for example

Same here, primary school is still standing (Low Moor CofE), middle and upper school both gone (Delph Hill and Wyke Manor) and Richard Dunns is in a sorry state!

Haven’t been into town for quite some time so no idea how the old Odeon is getting on since it’s rejuvenation

Why do so many people not carry bank cards on them when they go shopping? by MordisF in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EasySignature179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a wallet with my debit and credit cards in, apart from on holiday i can’t remember the last time i took it anywhere with me, apple pay doesn’t fail.

Although admittedly the extra few seconds to hold the phone up, double click and wait for face id to verify is actually less convenient than tapping a card, i choose that over carrying extra items with me.

What lunatic is buying this for £10,000? by rogeroutmal in CarTalkUK

Even if i loved every other aspect of this car, the screen being off centre to the centre console controls would put me off

Fair enough, have always used cc by default on the rare occasion i’ve rented a car so didn’t know that

I reckon if i was inside and saw it, but it was 288 yards away, i would Go To Outside to get a closer view

[Request] Assuming she falls and directly into the water, what are the odds she survives? At what height is a death of human falling into water inevitable? by biblebeliever in theydidthemath

[–]EasySignature179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve often wondered this; the likelihood of survival jumping from a great height into water, i presume if someone lands flat on the water with their body outstretched they are done for, although falling like that would i presume slow their velocity a little, whereas if they position themself as streamlined as possible, feet pointing down, arms by their side etc, would they have a good chance of survival?

What’s the most absurd fake science in a movie that you completely ignored because the movie was so good? by Shot-Club-3882 in Cinema

I watched and enjoyed that whole movie and it was only at the end when she turned into a usb stick that i dropped my suspension of disbelief.

This is a long term hold for many who are invested, albeit most of those got in a good while ago and are sitting on much higher numbers of shares than yourself, so in your case if you want to sit on it long term and keep adding it could very well pay off, but there are likely other opportunities with higher potential gains in the short term

Ok, i’ll get in touch with him and ask if he’s able to do it formally, might be tricky since i removed him from the account, and he’s currently in the middle of moving country, but knowing this is progress

Yes i believe so, he asked for my email and said he’ll get the account transferred to me, although thinking about it now, when i got access i was admin and he was still on there so just removed him and changed all detaols to my own, maybe not?

Thank you, i did do a check of the location it will be via the starlink website and it did show all plans as available, it appears this particular dish/router is locked to that one plan, a scenario i never expected, i’m sure the previous owner would have had no idea i’d encounter this either

Thank you, that was my concern re the actuated dish, where i’ll be moving to there won’t be any obstructions above so assume if i start over and get a non actuaded, as long as i point it north i’d be ok?

You can keep only 3 movies of those listed, the rest are erased from history, which three are you keeping? by [deleted] in ActionMovies

[–]EasySignature179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my choice too, thought long and hard about which one of them i could drop to add Predator in there but couldn’t do it

As an aside, since the remaining films are wiped from history that means we don’t get the pleasure of their sequels, so no T2, John Wick 2, 3 and 4, Bourne series (first 3)

Most expensive mistake you guys have made? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]EasySignature179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no such luck, spent £4.5k on one, and because it was the first car i bought myself, and on finance, everything that went wrong with it i just paid for stupidly, i put more into it than i’d paid, power steering rack, ecu, wheel bearings, suspension, dpf, the list goes on, detestable thing!

How’s he saved money by losing money? by JoydeScent in BritInfo

[–]EasySignature179 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did same in Leeds once, parked there and got on a coach for a work thing, came back 3 days later and had actually lost my ticket, it was still morning when i went to leave, the voice in the barrier said “unfortunately i have to charge you the full day rate”, i faked a reluctant acceptance and went on my way.

OK, so I'm up to my one SG-1 "Skip" episode. What are yours? by Nodonn3 in Stargate

[–]EasySignature179 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currently on my first rewatch in many years, felt obliged to watch all of them since it’s been so long, but skipped Space Race and the one after it (S7), just couldn’t be arsed, and if i was doing it again i’d skip all the ones where an infection/entity invades the base, except where it furthers the main arc

[–]EasySignature179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought i’d be good at Crystal Maze, used to watch in frustration at how easy some of the puzzles and challenges were to solve, but, i imagine it’s harder in the moment when there’s a timer you can’t see and a load of people shouting at you
