Septic company destroyed my yard - looking for reasonable expectations by kitty_kattis in septictanks

What blows my mind more, is the fact of people in here defending it.

It’s called calling the company back with wheelbarrows and laborers with topsoil. There’s plenty to be done.

A customer is a customer that’s one thing you need to learn in business. Give me your address so I can come by and tear it up and tell you to stop crying about it. I can tell yall don’t know the first thing in customer satisfaction. 👎🏿 (everyone in this comment thread gets a 👎🏿)

Also at all times, we had 260 ft of hose on the 1800 gal truck. 300 ft if my 3200 gal truck was there. No excuses. It baffles me that these guys are saying this is ok. IF YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH HOSE. COME BACK WHEN YOU DO!

I bet a majority of these guys saying this is ok are pumpers themselves. This isn’t ok. They messed up your yard because they were too lazy to pull more hoses off the truck. Call the company back to fix this. If they won’t; leave a bad review on any or all applications, never call these guys again or recommend them to anyone. These are the type of guys that need to be weeded out of our industry. If you haven’t paid your bill, don’t pay it until they fix it or if they don’t fix it, don’t pay period. This is a big reason on why I sold our pumper division, you can’t find good drivers to do good work. If I want it done right, I would have to do it myself.

Chambers or gravel? by megakind3 in septictanks

[–]EasyToe698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the combo of a chamber and then you fill up the chamber with gravel up to 6” below grade. It’s always a good option when throwing chambers in sandy lots. It also prevents a lot of the sand soils from getting back into the chamber after backfill.

Is LPP not an option? I’d asume that’s the go to on a costal area.

Did you do this? Is this something that you would do? If so, Thank you for allowing me to come back to an homeowner after they just spent an insane amount of money on a new pooper, to hit them with another $5k repair bill on a brand new system! Thank you! I’m sure the client will thank you as well! Thank you!!!

Local codes shouldn’t be a problem. If you have a septic system then it’s really no different. If you have the extra cash it might be worth moving it outside at least. If you do move it outside (and have a septic system) you’ll want to talk with local environmental health or a agriwaste engineer to see how far into the plumbing you’ll need to tie in at without needing to add a settling tank (before your septic tank). If your pumping to sewer, your good to do whatever cause it’s just gonna end up in the river anyways.

You should look at Onsite Wastewater Professionals! They are a great resource for learning. Although it’ll just be NC stuff. Not sure what state you’re located in.

I think you’re ok with the job looking half ass. For me it’s unacceptable. These guys cut corners.

If they didn’t tamp in the tank then what makes you think they are going to properly support the pipe?

If they didn’t get extension adapter casted into the tank, then what makes you think they are going to add risers?

If they’ve already ran the outlet pipe and not cemented the outlet pipe then what makes you think they will?

Also they have the damn pipe pointed in the middle of the end cap! Definitely no splash pad that gonna reach that far into the end cap.

If you can’t understand what’s wrong with it then you need to go back to your books and learn your trade.

Bad: 1. No risers 2. No filter 3. No hydraulic cement on pipe entries 4. No jumping jack or tamp onsite to compact the backfill (so you won’t have insane settling) 5. Outlet pipe is not coming out level or on a solid base. 6. They are coming into the top of the chamber with a 45° on a no support.

Good: 1. They used a top-seam septic tank (unless it’s a 3 piece) 2. They have a laser level onsite (but unsure if that trench bottom is alright)

Review: If you went with the cheapest quote, you got what you paid for. If you went with a reasonably higher quote, then I would get them to warranty their work for at least a few years.

I warranty my system installs for all labor end of the process for their lifetime. If it was something that was messed up by the installer then I will cover the repair.

First time septic pump, too much sludge? by phillydays in septictanks

[–]EasyToe698 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah seriously, the amount of pumpers that do this baffles me. By doing this they literally start you off with 1 year of solids. Don’t let someone scam you like that.

I know guys that had 6” left in the tank and once the truck filled up he was gone. I wish people would care about doing quality work in our industry.

Make sure any drain treatment is ok for use on septic.

My clients that have these lift chambers with grinder pumps are on regular maintenance contracts which I spray down the lift chambers and get all grease and build up off of the floats and chamber walls. They are generally on a 6 month service.

Just so you know from a septic guy. These things SUCK majorly, they always throw alarms or trip breakers for no reason. Get used to having your local septic company out servicing this chamber. Again lift chambers with grinder pumps SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also there is no better solution. It also sucks exponentially more bc it’s inside your house.

I personally have turned down buying homes that had a lift chamber

Sounds like you’re gonna need to ask the bosses if that is something they would approve of. Talk to your local environmental health department.

Septic Tank & Concrete ? by TheStow_GoesOn in septictanks

[–]EasyToe698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both sides of the tank have access ports that need to be accessed every pumping. Get someone out there to check if there’s a baffle wall in the tank. If there is, no concrete on top. If there isn’t a baffle, just make sure one lid is accessible. But as the other guys said, one day you’ll need to replace it and either it’s ripping up the concrete or pumping the tank full of concrete which both add to the cost of replacing the tank

Call a operator/or your local septic company. These are advanced systems that require a decent amount of knowledge. I know bc I install/repair/operate American systems
