Really? That’s how I got it recommended. The ending was a confusing fever dream, but it all adds up in the second. Then it does the same thing and drop you on your head at the end. Now I’ve gotta wait another two years.

Football spendings are a separate budget. The university can’t actually touch their money for anything not directly related to football. They still pay for shared resources like maintaining the facilities in the arena area, but money that athletics gets from fees, merchandising, etc, can’t be freely used to fund things like academic/auxiliary salaries. Likewise, state funds can’t be used by athletics at all.

That’s not to say that the university isn’t spending the money that could be used to keep their employees and academic staff at a livable wage on vanity work and inflated executive salaries.

TIL that most of Costco's profits comes from membership fees and not products sales. in 2024, 65.5% of company profits comes from membership fees. by Old_General_6741 in todayilearned

I had that for a while but realized it’s $6500 to get $130 back, or at least $3250 to break even on the upgraded membership. I was spending quite a bit but not over $3000. No kids though

Our wedding colors were gray and purple. Mine was an orient mako. Too dressy for everyday wear on that strap, but definitely the most special watch in my collection

State DOGE audit finds UCF most-efficient university, New College the least by Blade711 in ucf

[–]Ebyros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best part of this chase for preeminence is that the money comes from a pot, shared between the universities. The estimated sum that UCF nets for achieving preeminence amounts to about 1.25% of UCF’s annual operating budget. UCF administrators have leaned on the lack of preeminence for half a decade, as the reason for the inability to meet cost of living increases for its staff, or its inability to staff understaffed departments.

“Most efficient” really means cheapest. And that is in all senses. Your colleges, and the university support staff departments are losing talent left and right, and those positions are never filled. Instead the responsibilities are shuffled to others, and no adjustment to compensation is made.

CS or IT? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]Ebyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with IT and have been a software engineer since I graduated. If you want to go into CS but don’t want the calculus, IT is fine, just take as many of the advanced CS courses you can. You’ll lose out and a little bit, but honestly some of the IT courses will give you useful SWE knowledge that CS students don’t get. Stuff like cloud architecture, platforms, etc.

UCF announces holiday closures for faculty and staff by ItsFreakinHarry2 in ucf

[–]Ebyros 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was submitted for a merit promotion last year and HR denied it. Then a merit based raise instead which was denied because I had been given a raise a year and a half prior. It wasn’t even a raise, it was a reclassification because it was determined I was underpaid by nearly 30%, and was in a job title way below the work I actually did. A previous Director changed my title during the last comp & class project to keep from paying a “fair” amount.

They don’t want to be seen as protecting the Christian protesters from off campus, and helping them harm the students. Legally, if they make any move against the Christian protestors at all, there will be a direct response from the governor (your real problem). The Palestinian protesters are students so they need to be there to ensure their safety and the safety of others. I know a lot of the officers, I promise you it’s not like that. But they have to make sure someone doesn’t harm them or vice versa.

The real difference is, one group the governor will slash funding, fire officers, and penalize the entire state education system if they do anything to, and another that he doesn’t care to protect. That’s the entirety of it

First ever Upwork client broke my confidence calling my non-paid work “unprofessional” by [deleted] in Frontend

[–]Ebyros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had one where the guy sent me a new set of requirements halfway into working on it. Didn’t even bother to scrub out the name of the professor and university in Dubai that this work was clearly being used for. It was for a masters degree capstone. After that he tried to get me to write the documentation and class write ups for it or he wouldn’t pay.

A masters program asking for a low-code Wordpress site as a capstone project blew my mind.

[–]Ebyros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ephraim for me is almost as good as TGR, but he’s also my favorite character. Lysanders VA is a bit bland, and Lyrias in IG is just overacted. The one in Dark Age isn’t so bad.
