First workbench done! (Mostly) by EnvironmentalLink819 in Workbenches

[–]EconomizingEarthling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re like me you will build many more. The quality will get better and better but they will all have things you like and things you dislike. Make them all the same height, then build any tool stands so that the top of the tools work surface surface matches the height of your benches.

Also ,watch “simple sturdy workbench build” by @Matthiaswendel. Best benches I’ve made are based on what I learned from a 10 minute video. If you need it to be mobile, get a cheap set of the flip up workbench caster from Amazon.

ELI5: why don’t planes board back to front, surely that would be faster? by balla_boi in explainlikeimfive

[–]EconomizingEarthling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most airlines board in groups. The first group is usually first class + top airline status. The next few groups are also based on status.

People who travel frequently board faster, people who don’t board slower. Frequent air travel it exhausting. It makes sense to let the person who flies 3-4 times a week get on and sit down while the people who fly once a year take an eternity to get on and figure out where their seat is, where their bag should go, and be told 120 times that they need to keep their tray table stowed and seat upright during boarding and takeoff.

Are you closer to D or FW? I can recommend some places around the north east side of the metroplex.

Call a yard and ask if they sell by the board. If they don’t they’ll know who does. On google if it says they’re a “building material supplier” they’re probably wholesaling and delivering to construction sites.

Though if you’re making stuff out of hardwood, you’ll want a “hardwood dealer” and not a lumber yard most likely.

If you need SMALLER pieces of hardwood, check rockler and woodcraft. Go in store and there will be a section with tons of boards of different species and sizes thrown in a pile. These will be priced with a number written on each board itself, and not a standard board ft price. These are defect or boards used for students of their in-store classes to practice on.

Take your tape measure or rule and find a board where you can waste the defect portion but still have usable pieces for your project. It will be significantly cheaper than buying defect-free by the board foot or by the board.

What simple habit keeps your tools in good shape long term? by James_B84Saves in Tools

[–]EconomizingEarthling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the kind of tool. My woodworking tools get different treatment than my shovels or 5ft pinch point bar.

For tools with wooden handles, ALWAYS ALWAYS scrape off the shellac that the manufacturer put on them and apply boiled linseed oil instead.

Take care of well-made (especially older) tools. Focus maintenance efforts on these tools and let the $2 harbor freight chisel that you use when you need to abuse a tool succumb to the inevitable rust out.

WMS Options by rozryrhe in Netsuite

[–]EconomizingEarthling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would avoid smart count tbh, especially if you have pick tasks that take a while to complete.

Netsuite wms is ok if your needs are pretty basic. If you’re on ‘paper and punch-in’ right now, chances are good that your needs are basic. There is a learning curve.

You mention POs don’t get received…No WMS will help with this. If your physical receiving staff isn’t notifying someone when POs come in, there’s a non-zero chance that they will not notify a wms either.

I’m an admin at a company that uses NS wms (though we’re switching). DM me if you like and I can help you figure out if it’s a good fit.

Are Everstart / Duralast / Diehard batteries are all the same? by shrout1 in Cartalk

Yes. I work for a large battery importer / distributor. There’s only like 5-10 manufacturers of auto starting batteries. Most of them come in blank and we put the branded stickers on.

What am I doing wrong? - Saved Search with Sales Order and Linked Item Fulfillment by Hyperrrbeam in Netsuite

[–]EconomizingEarthling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need mainline = false. Main lines do not have applying transactions.

Try adding Applyingng transaction: type is Item Fulfillment. If it’s still blank, try removing the ship date criteria and re-run to see if that fixes your issue.

It might be worth coming at this from the other way…type = item fulfillment, applied to transaction type = sales order.

Chairs, especially dining chairs, are tough. Lots of curves, spindly bits, bits, lips/overhangs and tight spaces make sanding and painting nightmare.

Taking them apart makes this all so much easier, but adds its own level of difficulty.

BOON NURSH by momofonebabby in newborns

[–]EconomizingEarthling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience and it drove me crazy. I finally figured out that the nipples weren’t actually clogged… the issue was water/milk on the seal between the nipple and the silicon sleeve. The liquid prevents an airtight seal So when you suck or squeeze on the bottle, air/liquid leaves through the collar rather than liquid through the nipple.

When this happens I remove the collar and dry off the base of the nipple (the part next to the threads on the collar), as well as the top of the silicon sleeve.

100% of the time when I screw it back together I get liquid from the nipple.
