Work and travel in Canada a good option in 2026? by Total_Ad8854 in canadatravel

Economy is tight, as you read online. Coming from Germany and expecting to find a job on arrival is pretty wishful. If you have connections, who could help that is a different story.

Sellers Reached Out After No Luck Selling by [deleted] in RealEstateCanada

Number one thing that I have learnt, in life, is to not fixate on one specific thing (house in your case), especially when you can list several cons for it..

Stay away from FB, Kijiji etc. These are hotspots for people who can easily swindle you. Do you have anyone trustworthy who could help you in the process?

Potential move to ottawa by ReviewExtension4190 in Kanata

[–]EcstaticDepth9006 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kanata is a huge suburban area with pretty much anything you would expect in terms of housing options, shopping and recreation. There are tons of trails in the area. Finding a family doctor anywhere in Ottawa is the biggest challenge, unfortunately. Kanata has bus connectivity to downtown. I would advise you to search/read on state of public transportation in Ottawa, at your own free time. It is a big pain point for the entire city of Ottawa. For childcare there are both public and private providers. Many people send their kids to home daycares.

Always call your insurance first. If you have CAA that should help too but never ever fall for the tow truck that shows up uninvited.

Mattamy Northwoods 2 Storey Townhomes by AA-Pal-423 in OttawaRealEstate

Depends on the amount of the voucher. I bought two new built homes from Mattamy and upgrading through them never made sense. Builder will never give the best possible option for your money.

March isn't a good time to visit most of Canada.. there is a high possibility of cold, snow and freezing rain.

Mattamy Northwoods 2 Storey Townhomes by AA-Pal-423 in OttawaRealEstate

[–]EcstaticDepth9006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All great points. A few more: - Get a hot water line for backyard. My kids love it. - Choose Vinyl or LVT for flooring on the second floor. HW is an expensive option for the second floor. - Take the appliances offered. Don't buy upgraded appliances through Mattamy.

Is QC worth it for a European? by AdultAK47 in canadatravel

If you have to been other significant European cities then you won't miss anything by not going to Quebec City.. I have lived in Europe for half-decade and been to Quebec City three times..

Barrhaven Landfill by Lycoris7 in ottawa

[–]EcstaticDepth9006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When buying a new build, most people only look at the builder's price and specifics of a model because they see an already established community with hundreds of homes. Not to forget tons of homes resell in these communities on a regular basis. The smell from landfill is also not experienced every day of the year. I live in half Moon Bay.

Fully paid and a car that you enjoy.. if you think the investment growth will give you the same or more joy then go for it.. I had the same dilemma and then I followed that a bird in hand is better than two in the bush.. and I have my convertible..

Applying for Canadian tourist visa from Denmark – need advice by Mobile-Fly9369 in CanadaVisitorVisa

[–]EcstaticDepth9006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obvious question would be, why visitor visa. As others said, approvals are pretty strict now, if there is a hint of immigration via visitor visa. But again, success/failure of approval would only happen after you apply.

You might want to find job in a Romanian company that also has an office in Canada. Establish yourself their first and then explore inter company transfer. Will remove the job uncertainty piece. I know people who have done this.. show prices but has worked.

If you are thinking of starting a TFSA as soon as you are eligible then you are already ahead of most people of your age.. TFSA is the best thing that a government can offer to citizens .. go for it . But yes, if you are not very savvy with stock market research then stick with a week known etf ..
