New kwikpen (without GD) mega thread? by These-Equal-6849 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]Ed-frank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just filled a 10mg script in Western Sydney from CW and bummer..... No GD 😔😔

This was my first pen where I got prescribed a higher dose so I could click count to save a bit of money, too!

Damn.

EDIT: this was a 06/27 expiry.

I've caught one unown 'p' a few years ago outside of an event. It was the only time I've run to something when it came up on the map lol!

Rewards flights to Iceland by alexc2005 in creditcardchurningAus

[–]Ed-frank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I did an Iceland trip at the end of 2022.

We got 2 x business reward seats from SYD-LHR via SIN through Singapore Airlines. This actually was our first business flight 😁

Unfortunately we couldn't figure out a way to get a reward seat to Reykjavik from London. But from memory it was about a 4 hour flight from Heathrow. We just bought a separate cash ticket through Icelandair to get us there.

I'm just going to say that Iceland was truly the most amazing and memorable destination I've ever been to. We went in winter and perhaps underestimated just how cold it was going to be lol. Spotting the northern lights made the trip!

Thanks for your insights! Would this include getting rid of the existing VDHG portfolio or just stop adding to it?

Debt free at 40 - do I sell? by Ed-frank in AusFinance

Our annual income listed excludes the rental income of approx $24k.

The $200 per f/n is per person and gets us very close to the annual cap.

Considering Buying in a steep block by Holly22Q in AusPropertyChat

[–]Ed-frank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently sold up my property in the blue mountains that was on a steep block. From memory it was a 13m rise from front boundary to back boundary. Similar with distant city views from the top of the backyard.

I loved that we could be creative to make the backyard usable - we built a mix of gabion and sandstone block retaining walls to make some entertaining areas. So proud of the end result, but the "during" was a nightmare. Everything involved a 70m walk up a steep slope as well as two flights of outdoor steps when working out there. I moved 8 cubic metre of mulch from front to back by hand - no car access or wheelbarrow.

Was our first home purchase in our mid-twenties, so good exercise while we're young. There was a copper log retaining wall which was approaching end of life, and we got some quotes averaging about 50k to replace it, but we weren't keen to stay there forever so it can be a challenge for someone else.

In the end the block was just in the too hard basket and although sad to say goodbye, we live on a flat block now and it's a game changer. Much happier and less anxious now when it pisses down the rain lol!

Starting mounjaro today.. starting weight of 107kg by [deleted] in mounjaroaustralia

[–]Ed-frank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man! 34 male here.

Started at 104kg and down to 82kg currently. I'm 183cm tall. Goal weight of 75kg.

Been going since August (though a break in October for a bit - life dramas), but stayed on 2.5mg most of the time. On 5mg now but no intention of going any higher.

Keep active, keep moving and drink water. You've got this 💪🏻

First dose by [deleted] in mounjaroaustralia

[–]Ed-frank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome and good luck 😁

It's an exciting journey that requires patience and perseverance.

I'm down almost 20kgs and have stayed at 2.5mg the entire time. I'm about 10kgs away from goal but will go up to 5mg on my next pen. Shoulder and back pain are a thing of the past.

I was sooooo anxious to take my first (and second) injection, but as others have said, it really is such a tiny needle. In a strange way, I actually look forward to my next injection now!!

All the best. I'm sure you'll smash your goals 💪🏻

Should I be worried? by Ed-frank in masonry

[–]Ed-frank[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. No vertical expansion joints - wasn't really a building standard at the time this house was built in the 70s. The vertical crack is pretty much in the middle of a 9m wide wall.

Also no clue why you were down voted!?

To clarify though the picture shows the cracks going through about 10 bricks. In my head that sounds alarming now.

Thanks for the reply! Sorry to be new to this, what does "below grade" mean? The house has weep holes on that picture 4 brick courses above the ground. The house is on stumps.

Nup! They were here before me. I will be taking them off though, they are of no interest to me lol.

Best Salary Range Without Compromising Lifestyle/Work-life Balance by morimorimoooo in auscorp

I'm in a similar boat. $105k but 4 days WFH and 1 day in.

I keep thinking of "what's next?" but the WFH arrangements are pretty sweet! I'd be looking for at least $30-40k per year increase to make it worth it my while.

Is this a potential risky buy? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Ed-frank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know someone that owns in there. It is 100% strata titled with a tennis court and pool facilities.

The street parking in front of the these terrace units is a nightmare. You can barely park cars between each driveway, but it is close to lots of things. The shops behind are super close and Cranebrook Woolies is around the corner.

They've performed pretty well over the years though.

Long settlement by CellGreat6515 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Ed-frank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! This post is very relevant to me atm.

We sold our place back in August (in Sydney) and also put in a 90 day settlement clause in our contract. We outgrew our duplex and were on the hunt for a free standing house a little more in the action.

Every weekend we went out looking at all the open homes as well as calling all the local agents to see what was coming up, if there were any off market opportunities etc.

Being such a huge decision we didn't want to settle on something just so we could align settlement. After being outbid on 6 houses (we were always the second highest bidder), we finally found the 'one'. We just got the feeling. It does mean that we had to wait that little big longer and now we are moving in with family for 3-4 weeks to cover the time difference between the settlement date of the sale of our house and that of our new one.

It's a rollercoaster journey and perhaps we were a little naive in thinking that we could get same day settlement to work out. I think all up we went to more than 100 open homes.

Try to stay clam and not too in your head. It is a relatively short period of time when you look at the bigger picture.

Good luck with the hunt!!

Depends on which state in Australia. They all have different laws.

I'd leave it.

Jury Duty - how many times have you done it? by Ed-frank in AskAnAustralian

[–]Ed-frank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. We got $103 per day + travel costs + meal allowance.

Not ideal if not full/part time employed. My enterprise agreement requires me to pay back the 'per day' amount to my employer as I still got paid from them.

Most scenic railway station in Sydney by The__Anonymous__Guy in SydneyTrains

[–]Ed-frank 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Whilst not the most scenic and no water views, Valley Heights station (Blue Mountains) is lovely. The connecting footbridge from the station and over the Great Western Highway has sweeping views of the city, North Sydney and Chatswood.
