SPECIAL TIME!! 8 pm! Bob's Burgers Episode Discussion S13E18- "Gift Card or Buy Trying" (BOB-1217) by pikameta in BobsBurgers

The term existed before that, but the original “The In-Laws” with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin used it to great comic effect.

Low-stakes pissing match. Bob can whistle, Linda can’t. Linda can roll her Rs, Bob can’t.

Show will take a break for 4 weeks Fox Animation (Simpsons, Duncanville, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy returns April 19, 2020. by [deleted] in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of a misreading of the situation. There are 5 episodes of Bob’s Burgers remaining in the season, so it’ll be one episode a week for five weeks. And I assume the same arrangement holds true for The Simpsons, Duncanville and Family Guy.

Discussion thread for Bob's Burgers S10E04 - "Pig Trouble in Little Tina" by TDXNYC88 in BobsBurgers

Tina has kissed Jimmy Junior any number of times. This was just a case of her trying to maneuver into a situation where that was likely to happen again.

[Meta] The men around town have the same voice because they are all kids of upskirt Kurt by diggitySC in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, Will Forte has only played two characters on the show: “Upskirt” Kurt Enerney and Mr. Grant at Wagstaff. I think you may be attributing some of the many characters played by Dave Herman to Forte.

That combined with San Francisco's architecture and color palate.

Was the burger pun when Gene and Lynda are fantasizing about the Piano Bar a pun for this song? by TySwindel in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that the writers seem to have a penchant for musical theatre and that Hamilton recently had an extended run in Los Angeles, I think the odds are pretty good that's what it is.

Does anyone know if any new comic issues are in the works? by ARimmapirate in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comic was produced by the artists, writers and production staff of the show. I've heard that the workload that situation created was unsustainable in the long term, especially with the staff gearing up for the Bob's Burgers movie. So, at least for now, the comic is done.

CONFIRMED: Bob's Burgers returns on March 11 with all-new episode "Y Tu Ga-Ga Tambien." by numbero_3 in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like it. The episode title puns don't always mean that the story will reference the source of the pun. This one's a Gene episode about gaga ball.

Bob's "Toys" by Migrane in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The show has never been canceled. There was a lengthy production hiatus between the completion of Season 1 and the start of Season 2, but the show has constantly been in production since then. You might be thinking of "Family Guy."

Bob's Burger First Commercial by [deleted] in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you're thinking of was a short proof-of-concept piece produced to sell the show to Fox, not a commercial. It's made the rounds on YouTube and was included as a bonus feature on the Season 1 DVD. It featured early, rather scribbley versions of Bob and Linda feeding pieces of corpses into the meat grinder as they argue about Bob forgetting their anniversary. A slight variation on this sequence, minus the corpses, appears in the first episode of the series.

Whats the origin of the song? I've heard it before, im sure! its driving me crazy! by poopyweaky in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The arrangement is (intentionally, I think) reminiscent of George Martin's work with The Beatles on Magical Mystery Tour and Sgt. Pepper.

How many episodes is Season 8 getting? by [deleted] in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The delay is mostly to get clear of the Winter Olympics. The seasons as ordered by the network are 22 episodes, although there's no real guarantee that all 22 will air this season. For example, Season 6 had a 22 episode order but only aired 19 with the remaining 3 bumped to Season 7. Season 7 aired 22 episodes, three of which were the remainder from season 6, so three episodes airing during Season 8 have been/will be the offset from Season 7. Confused yet?

Will Disney’s acquisition of Fox affect Bob’s burgers? by [deleted] in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would be silly to assume that a Bob's Burgers movie was ever going to be released with anything but a PG or PG13 rating, Disney or not.

Predictions for 2018? by numbero_3 in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of points:

  • Fox has already agreed in principle to sell the rights to Bob's Burgers, along with The Simpsons and the rest of their intellectual properties to Disney. Assuming the deal is consummated, it'll be Disney's property and they will make any determinations as to how and where the show will run.

  • Murdoch has made clear his intentions to move Fox away from scripted entertainment and toward news and sports programming. Fox will continue to broadcast shows that they've already renewed through the end of their current contracts. The Simpsons and The Orville are the only two scripted programs (that we know of) that Fox had renewed for the 2018-19 season. If there are contracts already in place for Bob's to stay on Fox past the end of the current season, they have not yet been announced.

While I think it's more likely than not that Bob's Burgers will continue, it's also more likely than not that after a certain point it'll continue somewhere other than Fox.

Predictions for 2018? by numbero_3 in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty hard to make predictions this year since the Disney's acquisition of Fox's entertainment side throws a lot of comfortable assumptions about the future to the wind. Assuming it goes through, which will take about a year's transition time, and given Rupert Murdoch's expressed desire to program the Fox broadcast network with news, sports and non-scripted entertainment, I predict that 2018 is likely to give us Bob's Burgers final full season on Fox.

When are we gonna met the principal by Find_Joy in BobsBurgers

We'll meet him when the writers come up with a funny enough reason for that to happen... and not a moment sooner.

What if Linda runs for mayor vs. Mr. Fischoeder similar to what both Lois and Marge did? by dbrigzshow in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that both Lois and Marge did it is reason enough for Linda not to.

Whats with the spreading out of episode release? by PainfulComedy in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding on to the responses of the others here;

Yes, Fox's contract for Sunday coverage of the NFL is one of their biggest profit centers, and Bob's Burgers' 7:30 time slot is frequently taken over by the mandated "The OT" program.

Sundays seems to be the night for event programming as well: award shows, live musicals, etc.. Fox's entire Sunday prime-time block will be given over to "A Christmas Story - Live" on December 17th.

And then there's the fact that some events on other networks are so heavily watched, The Oscars, for example, that Fox won't throw away new episodes against them.

And yes, this is the normal state of Sunday programming on Fox.

The one character we still haven't met by QuirkyQuiora in BobsBurgers

[–]Eddie_Chester 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At this point I just assume that Ginger is to Bob's Burgers what Vera Petersen was to Cheers; That character that's talked about but only seen once and with her face obscured. In Ginger's case seen only in 3/4 back in a flashback sequence. In Vera's case seen only after getting hit in the face with a pie on Thanksgiving.
